One thing you can do with the shadow warrior is use the new quick cast feature. You can keep death sentry on right click as a martial arts assassin. This makes the warrior use only death sentry, while you can use your martial arts build and not waste time and mana casting death sentry. That will give you faster kill speed.

Yes I talked about that with the mind blast but it can be applied to any skill you want her to spam like death sentry. It is definitely a plus of the warrior being able to force her to spam a specific skill. The negative of this however is it consumes one of your slots.

You can have a lot of slots if you re-map your keys, and then use the fast cast feature. I have 13 mapped with my assassin. I think I had 16 skills mapped with my necro. All the summons and all the curses, and poison nova. Plus town portal. It really opens up new play styles to map so many skills.

The Shadowmaser's traps can be devistating. I had a level 45 shadow master on a whirlwind / dragon claw Assasin I was running. I had like one point in each trap to dig down to put a single point into death sentry. But, other than casting the odd one of those occasionally. I had no traps on this assasin. But, I just let the master have the 5 trap slots and she would just spam all sorts of powerful stuff. Worked amazingly.

beleiev it or not at higher lvls her trap damage becomes more powerfull then ur main characters. masicallly max shadow master and 1 point into each skill and her skills. Believe it or not it got nerfed in d2r, because in d2 destruction the formula gave you much higher skills since it was based off the assians skills plus the shadow masters. In d2r its half the shadow masters skill lvl plus 1. So a lvl 45 shadow master , skills will scale to them being lvl 24. Before with d2 destruction if i maxed out lightsentry, i could get a lvl shadow master to cast a lvl 45-50 traps on its own. This new forumla in d2r nerfed it alot. This was the old formula from d2 lod, The level of the skills the Shadow Warrior and shadow master uses are equivalent to 1/3 of its own skill level + 1/2 of the level of the skill being used, rounded up. So lets say your lvl 45 shadow master own skill would be lvl 15 plus half the skill of the asssian. So lets say i had lvl 30 skills with my gear , my shadow masters skill lvl for abilities would be 15+15= 30.

Currently trying to come up with a build with maxed shadow warrior. Probably a bowsin build. Ill only consider it a viable build if it can clear all levels players 1-3. I like trying to make unorthodox builds work even though they are unoptimal. I believe this is the end game to diablo's unending cycle of MF lol. Having amassed enough resources to fuck around

If you are starting out or slow progressing, choose the Warrior. They mimic your spells at the SAME LEVEL as you. If you have 20 points into WOF, the lvl 1 warrior will have lvl 20 WOF. But the Master needs 20 points to have 20 points in WOF. Odds are in the early game you want them to mimic the powerful spell that you are using.

The shadow master doesn't suffer res penalties for difficulty. It means she can often be used as a clincher, and can't be despawned by bosses. She can also break CC's on your char/merc, which will save your life, more often than not in Hell. - Shadow warrior is great up until A5 normal, after that Shadow master is imperative. Unlike Decoy & Valkyrie which both are always useful.

There used to be a hack, way, way back in the OG classic d2 days, that would let you see what other players and summons were equiped with. The main purpose for this hack was for pvp, but it was also super cool to be able to see what summons get. Anyway, the difference betwean warrior and master is that, warrior only got blue items, while master got rare items. The rolls on them were 100% random, so you could roll an absolute beast of a summon with one cast, and a wet noodle with another. The difference was indeed crazy.

ye i remember folks would use it on summoner builds, had guys with lvl 52 vallkries and and shadow masters. Teh valks could kill zons and mages and necs in pvp and sometimes they would spawn with cruel weapons and chance to cast amp damage. I once saw a bvc with 7k life get three hit by a lvl 53 valkrie. Before their use to be a glitch were shadow masters/shadow warriors could cast traps outside of town and act almost like a town pvp bear druid till they patched it. Basically a assian would make a lvl 50-53 shadow warrior then max out light sentry, so now you had a lvl 50-53 shadow warrior casting lvl 37-39 ligtht sentry outside out town nking and killing people. The damage was like 8k lightining damage for traps.

One thing to note, higher level shadows also increases the ilvl of their gear, which means higher rolls are possible. Those rare items can roll higher stats at higher levels.

Shadow master only keeps spamming mind blast if you put points in it yourself... I don't have any points in mb and I see her use it once in a blue moon. Her skills seem to have a heavy bias to use the skills you have the most points in. Even a single point in a skill with all the +skills will pump up the likelihood of her using said skill grows exponentially. The example build you provided here also had the mind blast maxed out... Her gear keeps improving until level 25, as the itemlevel of the affixes grows up until that point (or maybe it was 26 before she reached iLvl 99?) Shadow master also gets a ton of STR and DEX (+10 each level) which in turn can scale her kick damage to insane amounts. Try building her with maxed out tiger strike + dragon tail and her 500 str 500 dex kicks will obliterate everything. (Dragon tail damage is multiplied by tiger strike so it's possible for ther to reach over 50k AoE damage for her kicks~)

1 point in mb definitely doesn't put her using it very much. She'll occasionally open with a blast or 2 of it, or smoke, lay a couple traps, then zoom in with martial arts. She used ice claw a lot with my light trapsin and I had no ranks at all in that. I think her play is almost ideal because the mb pushback/convert and smoke gave her and myself both the moment of distraction needed to place extra traps. Light immune mobs would often get the first kill themselves by attacking the converted (or vice versa), then death sentry came into play. My favorite thing in the game was watching converted minions join my shadowmaster in tearing their allies (or unique boss) apart then, the moment they came to and realized what they had done, being blown up by their allies' (or boss') exploding bodies.

I believe in the old days maphack would allow you to view other players equipment and this included also shadows and valk. There is one important thing about the skills -> warrior "remembers" the skills used and it applies synergies. Eg. if you put lightning sentry on your right click an warrior uses it, and then you swap for death sentry, then death sentry used by warrior will benefit from the synergy. And since the calculation of the skill level of the summon uses the softpoints and not hardpoints (as in the example in the video, you got a skill level above 20), I believe you can actually get synergy from more than 20 points. Using this trick you can also get shadow warrior skills to be higher level than what you have, although it does require some effort to "train" the warrior.

Not sure if it’s true or not but I heard that the shadow warriors skill calculations are considered hard points so in theory you would be able to get high level synergies if built right.

Nice video as always , may i ask you a question? i have except my sorc an assassin too and i want to ask you when i full up the blast of the last synergies in trap tree, instead of putting 3 or 4 {with plus skills arround 20) is better choise to put them into wake of fire to been boost from blast instead spend the last points when reach 99 to shadow warrior/master?

Don't use wake of fire or any fire traps at all because death sentry already gives you physical and fire damage (as does 1 point fireblast with + skills). Use lightning traps instead. Max the four lightning traps and max shadowmaster. The shadowmaster is vastly more useful as a tank than fireblast. She can also deal ice damage from her martial arts skills, which is the only damage type you can't do yourself. Maxed out she can solo facetank many superuniques throughout Hell mode, including in A5. She's even resilient against Act Bosses, and won't need many recastings (if any). This is way more useful than fire blast (unless maybe you have infinity). 20 shockweb 20 charged sentry 20 light sentry 20 death sentry 20 shadowmaster 1 mind blast 1 fade 1 each pre-req 1 point leftover Level up your lightning traps as you go, keeping them at max: shockweb at 6, charged bolt at 12, lightning at 24. Also put 1 point in the other skills mentioned. At 30th level up death sentry and shadowmaster at about equal rates. The death sentry doesn't need early maxing because it isn't used for anything but lightning sentry synergy, which isn't really needed because that's already well synergized, and for CE blast radius (damage doesn't go up, only radius), and the radius is likely already decently high with + skills. The only real question is what to use the remaining point on. I'd consider peeling off 2-3 points, for 3-4 total, and spending them on venom and blades. Blades can proc things like crushing blow, prevent monster heal, open wounds, venom, and life and mana steal from range. Although you would need to adjust your gear to give yourself a decent attack rating to make this worthwhile, being able to proc crushing blow from range between traps is nice. I also use blade with mana or lifesteal to locate the exact location of offscreen bosses like meph, because you'll tic red or blue when it hits. (Level 98 HC ladder trapsin with > 500 mf, 75% pdr, key set collector, uber mob crowd control, etc.)

Have you tried this out on a controller setup? With a controller you have a total of 12 abilities set to each button. Also how does this work if your mb is based on a claw giving you this ability, hence no hard points, possibly no unecessary casts.

Lol not really, shadow warrior is much weaker in general. Their gear is stuck a magic, and their resistances cap. Shadow Master on the other hand gets much better rare gear in all slots, and basically has no resistance cap. Which means in general he is much tougher.

There are some skills they won't copy, best way to test it out is to try it out in a game. My guess is she won't copy O Skills but pretty easy to check. Just put the O Skill on left or right click summon the Warrior and go into combat. If she uses the ability then yes.

Are you certain that Shadow Master benefits from Block + Claw mastery? Every piece of research I have done suggests otherwise. I can find no confirmation that the Master gets these skills. Any discussion would be appreciated.

@@GGMentor It absolutely works for all active skills, but from the information I can find, it suggests that the passive skills (claw + block) don't pass onto the master. Or at least there doesn't seem to be any evidence of this on the internet. If you have any other information or confirmation on this it would be appreciated. I'm planning to make a Shadow Master as my main focus in the next league (in 2 days), but not knowing if these 2 passives actually work is a real quandary. Thanks for the help.

I wonder if I use a phoenix strike charge and am subject to "next delay" penalty, and the shadow warrior and/or hits it with the same right after, will my summon utilize my next delay calculation instead of its own? If it uses mine, a shadow warrior might be a waste for a phoenix strike sin

Hmmm interesting thought, I am not entirely sure. If I had to guess I would have to say yes the next hit delay would cause an issue but keep in mind it is 4 frames which is 4/25th of a second so basically like .1 of a second. As long as your two attacks are not overlapping you should be fine

Any idea if lets say my sin has 3/3 dragon talon's on and have shadow war DT some one than swop my claws will the shadow war use the higher DT lvl or just whatever lvl my DT is ? I don't plan on using DT my self just leaving it on left click for shadow.

Skill levels of skills used are stored and can provide synergy bonuses to skills used afterwards. Synergy bonus is not restricted to maximum level 20. Skill level stored is that when most recently used. The Formula is max([Assassin.Skill lvl/2] + [Shadow Warrior.Skill lvl/3] , 1)

Shadow master always better due to using skills you lack and overall tankiness (higher res) and better gear. It's the higher level skill for a reason. She liked Phoenix strike and Ice claws with my light trapsin, which I was very happy about. She can solo kill I think probably most super-uniques in Hell mode, and is a nice distraction against bosses too. Kicksin+DE might find her helpful against physical immune fire immunes, or stoneskin fire immunes ... in other words against exactly the things you're weak against. I favor her so much because she vastly increases survivability and ease of play in hardcore mode, and kill speed against multiple immunes in Hell mode. (And yes, if you have infinity and gg this isn't an issue, but if you don't it is.)

@@psychofury6485 Sorry for the late response. Seems they've changed it at some point but I noticed it now mimics your last skill cast before entering combat. So for example I like using Cloak of Shadows against things that like to attack at range. My Shadow Warrior will cast ONLY that if at Melee range until I'm able to back her off then the A.I. will switch skills to say one of the traps I'm using or Fade.

The Formula is: max( [Assassin.slvl/2] + [Shadow Master.lvl/3] , 1) Using the formula in practice would look like this. Slvl = 40 /2 = 20 + Master Level 40/3 = 13.33 = 33.33 Rounded down to 33 Master would be using a level 33 skill. Also Skill levels of skills used are stored and can provide synergy bonuses to skills used afterwards. Synergy bonus is not restricted to maximum level 20. Skill level stored is that when most recently used. The level 33 skill can have higher than level 20 synergy bonuses. Which can also make things very powerful. but does require that you have a very high level in the synergies.

Yes but you can easily and quickly override hers - typically only a couple - with new ones of your own while she's doing her martial arts thing. She typically only mindblasts, smokes, or traps as a sort of "pre-fight prep", then zooms in with martial arts. In practice I've never found her traps to be any liability. With Insight they certainly aren't.
