You can also decrease the enemy damage per attack (such as using the barbarian skill Battle Cry) since the damage returned is not depending on the damage dealt by the enemy anymore.

If this would be a build I wouldn't use spirit wolves. They apply chills. So you could save the points in spirit wolves cuz the def they give from passive would not help this build. As long your have the pally thorns. And kind of simple fix is give the bear a open wounds.

I guess if you drop the ravens and invest in rabbies or you get a weapon that can proc poison nova often that would nice with the bramble armor

I feel like thorn/barbs could be suche a decent ability if tweeked a little more. Make the damage magic damage. Give it some type of prevente/reduce monster heal. Making the skill work on proximity and have a fix tick damage rather then the monster attacking you. Any of those mix.

Would it work if you have an act 2 merc with prayer, insight and cure to help boost healing for the zoo party while doing thorns and barb damage?

Yes, and No. The issue with Poison to Stop Regen is that it really doesn't. How diablo 2 works is if you have a monster trying to regenerate, he can regenerate a total of 25 times per second. Or Represented a different way is 25 frames / 25 frames. Poison Interrupts Regeneration by Consuming Frames. So lets say you have a poison that lasts 3 seconds, and the monster reduces that poison down to 1 Second with 75% poison length duration. now the Monster is poisoned for 1 second or 25 frames. So as soon as the 26th Frame Arrives he can now regenerate again. Also Second issue, is Poison cannot consume a Frame that is also consumed by another form of damage. So if you hit a monster with an attack it will consume 1 frame of the 25. preventing the poison from consuming that frame. Which also in turn allows the monster to regenerate during that 1 frame. It's been my personal experience that while poison can help prevent regeneration in a limited fashion, it utterly fails unless it has 100% uptime. If it falls off at all for any reason the monster will then start regenerating again and cancel out all of the previous work.

One of the worst abilities in the game I think. The only way to justify it would be to improve it and make it so you can have OS/SoB or HoW/SoB pairings allowed

The worst Druid spirit by far. The only skill more worthless than Find Potion.
