This sword has always been a favorite of mine. 😍 Early on, or end game. Non Eth I like to put in a shael right away, that really helps a lot. Then I just typically "Up" it once I get to the req level. This as a conquest sword is really powerful/underrated, in my opinion. It's also really good Ethereal Upped w/ Shael, Ohm, or Ber (if you can afford it) on an A5 Merc, he absolutely wrecks. Ok, now I'm gonna watch the video. 😅😄 edit* Love the video dude, it's so great to see somebody actually spend *time* with *each* item, and really break it down. Great job!!! 😃

Hi, am confused about attack speed, does it have no limit, if you have treachery and + frenzy helmet and frenzy which boost aspd itself, is there any reason to add Shael into it ? Wouldnt be Eth much better option when in hell almost everything is partially phys imunne, and trav bosses are very often fully phys immune , so merc would miss it infinitelly, that is where Eth would be game changer ? Some imunities even amplify damage would not break but merc with eth in weapon would stack and break ?

@@osudrecenzie2583 not sure if you've already found this out on your own, but in case you still need the answer, then yes, there's a cap. You can search "D2r IAS" then input the information in for the break points. Also bout the Eth rune, I have the impression that you mean the - defense is the same as Physical ressitance. They're not the same, Defense affects the chance to hit the enemy. Physical resistance is another thing, which deduce p.dmg.

It's items like headstriker that are part of that subset where people just can't possibly know the value of unless they are told. Hidden effects like the Barb Merc doubling damage of one handers is not easy to uncover.

So, a unique sword just happend to drop and a scroll of identify was near. When i ID'd it and saw it was some sword i never heard of AND it was etherial, i threw it on the ground and went on. I got this a few days ago and also gave him this sword. Tried the small bul Kathos with it.. also tried him with my necro (didn’t have range attack with all the summons up) . Now he has a lawbringer as a secondary and is my merc for my lightning trapsin :) he seems to be doing pretty well

If you are referring specifically to headstriker, it could be an ohm rune tbh. 50% enhanced damage on a weapon being doubled would end up being 100% enhanced. A 15/40 could be nice of course granted he is hitting ias the break point otherwise it could be a waste.

This eth act 5 merc 15/40 jewel, eth fort sacred armor, eth arreats upped with a cham. The jewel gets him to the fist attack speed breakpoint of 3 attacks per second if the calculator is correct.

Yes it could help a headstriker a lot. 40% Ed on a weapon acts as on weapon ED which is very powerful

The two handed Merc, or the frenzy dual wield Merc? This video was made before the existence of the frenzy Merc and the double damage stated in the video only works on the two handed variant. The eth headstriker upped and socketed is still an excellent sword for the frenzy Merc but not anywhere near as good as it is on the two handed variant

i been using this on my necros " barb merc " i use 120/45 ias 30str circlet + 4 socket Sacred armor 20str 160/60 + upped head striker w/ sheal. he hits very fast ias bp + i enchant him and amp everything and he 1 shots people in pk games lol

Ethereal Headstriker works very well on the act 5 two handed Merc. As for the act 5 Frenzy Merc it still works very well but no he does not get the hidden double damage. But don't let that dissuade you from using it, eth headstriker upgraded socketed is still a killer weapon for the act5 frenzy merc

As always for these videos I tend to over simplify things because well the formulas are ridiculous. But since you seem Curious so here is the full formula. Act 5 merc with 1-H Sword formulae: final_max_damage = [(base_weapon_max_damage * Eth * (1 + weapon_ED%)* 2 + base_merc_max_damage + max_damage*3 + normal_damage) * (1 + non-weapon_ED% + str/100 + skill_ED%) * DS + Bash_bonus + elemental_damage_max] * CS final_min_damage = [(base_weapon_min_damage * Eth * (1 + weapon_ED%)* 2 + base_merc_min_damage + min_damage*3 + normal_damage) * (1 + non-weapon_ED% + str/100 + skill_ED%) * DS + Bash_bonus + elemental_damage_min] * CS

If you are using blessed aim for attack rating consider angel rings(2) + Angelic amulet that can fix most attack rating issues. As for barb merc over act 2 merd that really comes down to your situational play. They haven't been buffed yet, and you might want to wait until then.

Weapon deadly strike only applies to that weapon. Gear deadly strike applies to both weapons.

So the new frenzy Merc is a different beast and doesn't get the same effects as the two handed one. Everything I said about the barb Merc still applies to the 2 handed variant, but not the frenzy dual weild variant

Currently, he's rocking eth headstriker (will upp and socketed with ohm) & grief, arreats & duress- eth shadow plate(will upgrade him soon with fortitude). So eth headstriker gets a double damage bonus on the two handed variant. I don't think he still gets that same double damage on the frenzy dual wield variant. I still need to do a video on the frenzy variant

15/40, shael, or ohm rune depending on your gear setup. You want to hit the barbs ias breakpoint. So treachery has 45% ias so ohm would be better, where as fort doesn't so you see where this is going. Highly depends on the other pieces of gear.

It's currently one of the best Act 5 Frenzy Merc weapons. I probably wouldn't let it go for less than a Lo Rune on ladder. Especially since it's better damage than a grief for that merc

No this is specific to the two handed variation. Although Eth head striker is still one of the best weapons for the frenzy Merc.

Yes all unique items can have one socket from larzuk, that doesn't mean they come with one but it is a standard for considering an items value. Runewords for instance lack this bonus.

The special one handed to two handed doubling only works on the two handed Merc. This is still an extremely powerful sword for the frenzy Merc though

Most people get life steam from other items on Merc, but it is nice to have life steal on the weapon. As for ias yes you want to factor that in with gear. Like Andy's visage with a 15% ias jewel ect.

yo man I've been liking these series you're doing with uniques and set upgrades, but these videos are just too long. Most of these videos are probably 2x as long as they need to be - if not more. 21 minutes to talk about a single item? Wayyyyy too long. Lol I appreciate the feedback but I am just long winded. I actually moved towards a single item video series because doing multiple items always took too long in general. Usually my single item are only about 8-12 minutes. This one was a oddity because I had to talk about the Merc one handed bonus and what not.
