This is my set for the Hardware Jams Fest 2023. We’re celebrating pur 5th birthday with a weekend of music. The lineup is stellar, I’m honored to be a part of this. Find the streams here: kzbin.infom7Y3s9XNiBk?feature=share kzbin.infoNRl9GGwFyjo?feature=share kzbin.infou8LnUPsZFDk?feature=share My jam is a folk ambient exploration of drones and a song. I start with the Ciat-Lonbarde Sidrax. It goes through a Meng Qi Wingie 2, Leppalæ Electronics Rat Creature and a Dreadbox Darkness. I add a drone on two Dreadbox Nyx v.1’s. One of them goes through a Mastro Valvola Lem, and the other one through an Eventide Rose. They then go through a Boss DD20 delay, which is set to a ping pong delay at about 8 seconds. The final parts of the drone come from the Make Noise Easel: Strega and 0-Coast tuned roughly to chords (the lfo on the Strega giving the third note) and played with the 0-Ctrl. Over these Drones I play a song on the acoustic guitar. The song is If It’s True by Anais Mitchell. It’s also featured in her brilliant musical Hadestown, though I prefer the version on her album Xoa. Guitar and vocals go through Boss VE-8. I also open the mic on the Wingie, so another channel of the guitar and vocals runs through the same effects as the Sidrax. In hindsight I wish I had turned this channel up a bit in the mix. Recorded with Reaper. Video edited in LumaFusion.

Im a big fan of Anais Mitchell. This droning / folky version is really lovely. Mrs R and I flew to New York specifically to see Hadestown at New York theatre workshop (a bit less Broadway than the current version) and it was fab. I think you might be o to something combining your nice folky guitar playing with the droning. 🎉

That’s great to hear! I really love Anais Mitchell. Her Child Ballads album is one of my all time favorites. Awesome that you got to see the earlier version of Hadestown live! I’ve just listened to the albums, but I’ve really enjoyed those.
