Watching you use the straw it occurred to me if you had about two and a half feet of tubing as in the type of air tubes for fish aquariums, you wouldn't have to bend over your work and you could aim it in any which direction you wanted. Of course you have to watch the middle of your tubes so it wouldn't drag in your art work. But I think it would be very very useful and much more convenient not to mention more versatile with the direction you blow. Additionally you wouldn't be going semi cross-eyed while looking down the point of that straw LOL. I hope you get a tube and it works out great for you! Only just discovered this technique two days ago I haven't painted since my husband passed away and I certainly am inspired by what I see thank you for sharing

It’s really amazing how everything you do keeps the shape. You do not seem to use a lot of paint. It’s like painting with a brush. I have to keep practicing as everything I try loses its shape.

Thicker paints work better. If your paints are thinned out too much. They kind of bleed out and lose their shape

Sandra, I loved this demonstration and how you conquered the flowers. The flowers are beautiful, and I will try this technique soon. Can you please provide the link to the "Koi Fish" painting? I would LOVE to watch it. I looked on your Art Store page, but did not find it. Your store is so full of wonderful items. I wish I could just pick your brain on how some of the items are produced. Thanks for another wonderful lesson.
@SandraLett6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tammy... most of my paintings have a video to go with it... I try to name the video to match the name of the painting. The koi fish painting is this (I had done a pour about 6 months before and knew that one day I would always add something on it to enhance it. All I did was sketch out the shapes with chalk and then base painted the fish shapes in white and then that is where the video starts up! kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqeQlWSbpr6ZpdE

I have found the solution to the nozzle opening. Get some straight pins with the round knobs or even tacks with some type of knob and stick in and they are just an easy twist to remove before using as they don't glue tight to the hole. This is a stunning piece.
@SandraLett6 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea...! Thank you and I managed to find caps for all of the bottles and just ordered another set of bottle with the screw on lids which the openings are smaller and easier to control!

I just love this technique of yours! I'm trying daily to really re-crate it but I think it's a trick of the wrist in the circular motion of swiping each leaf....?

Thank you Sandra for this beautiful demonstration. I have been trying the swipe to get a leaf effect and have not yet succeeded with anything I liked as well as your painting today. Back to the drawing board. I'm wondering if I'm using too much paint and my colors are muddying? Or my tool is too heavy?

Using an old store credit cards is one of the best ones to try using. The second favorite of mine is a palette knife that is oval and about an inch or so in length (the blade)... I have the most control with those two things.. The other thing is you have to be totally parallel to the surface of the paint... and you have to have a VERY light touch, barely skimming the surface. The consistency of the paint should be like warm honey

Hola , te sigo hace mucho .Me encanta todo . Cómo preparas los acrílicos ??? El medium ? Para lograr las celdas ...
@SandraLett6 жыл бұрын

Have you ever tried crackle medium in place of silicone? ... I have so many questions!!! 🤣
@briannab52965 жыл бұрын
Which link takes us to the squirt bottles with the smaller holes??
@SandraLett5 жыл бұрын
No... I have used crackle medium through the years for furniture and other projects. I don't think it would work. You could try it though!
How long can you keep the paint in the bottle. I was thinking of getting the squeeze bottles with the measurements and do 50/50 pouring medium and paint. Directly in the bottles.
@SandraLett5 жыл бұрын
I would say it will stay as long as a year. I just continually add left over paints from cups to the bottles... indefinitely
@jaspalkang76686 жыл бұрын
Sandra it was nice watching you, I do oil paintings but want to try this also.What kind of base black or white paint you use.Secondly is silicon already mixed in the paint or we have to do and how much quantity.will appreciate your response.Thanks.
@SandraLett6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I use Artists Loft White and Black Flow Acrylic that come in Quarts from Michaels.. I use the same 1:1 ratio of paint to Floetrol and then add water to get to the perfect consistency like warm honey or a glue like consistency... Not too drippy and not too thick. I do not add silicone to those. All my colors. I mix the same ratio of 1:1 paint to Floetrol, then add water if needed (depending on the brand). So if I mixed a cup of 3 oz of paint and 3 oz of Floetrol = 6 oz of paint mixture ... I will add 6 drops of silicone roughly (so a drop of silicone per ounce of paint mixture). Then I transfer the paint from the cup to the squeeze bottles. I particularly love these 8 oz squeeze bottles. They are a bit heavier plastic and have a smaller spout and a screw on lid (no leaking!) and you can store your colors indefinitely with the silicone in it... I just shake them up before I use them each time. As I get low, I add more to what is in the bottle already. Hope this helps! www.amazon.com/dp/B075THYZ2M/?ref=idea_lv_dp_ov_d&tag=aiponsite-20&linkCode=ic6&ascsubtag=amzn1.ideas.266KNCFOYHI9C
