Someone comments on my channel saying they heard from me here. So I check out your channel and then see a HEAVENLY pour... I'm like whaaaat? I find it VERY cool that you filmed your take on my latest discovery. You really did everything pretty much the same and it was so fun for me to watch. The only difference was the artist loft colors and the fact that I did not wait and let it set after pouring, I moved it right away. You still got the exact cloud effect caused by the satin enamel by DecoArt. The liquitex pouring medium has nothing to do with the way the paint reacted (I heard you say that in your video). It's just real pouring medium. It's the ingredients in the enamel paint combined with the others and poured in such a way that it creates heaven :) Your painting is beautiful and thank you so much for sharing :)

Gorgeous! I’ve found that the secret to ethereal looks-and many other amazing results!-is the addition of enamel paints. When I first started out I enthusiastically grabbed whatever paints I’d collected over the years for my first pours. Those pours were some of my favorites and I believe it’s due to the paints I used.....I had small bottles of”air-dry”enamel paints by “Delta”(for painting on glass/porcelain surfaces)that I used and if they weren’t so expensive, I’d use them in every one of my pours. I’ve combined them with acrylics like Mely has, and used them on their own-all with amazing end results. Enamels dry looking the same as when wet & when they do dry(we’re talking days here;)the air dry enamels are as smooth, shiny and hard as a shellacked acrylic painting(almost but not quite as shiny as resin). How heavy it is when dry is a potential issue, depending on substrate used but the potential is intriguing to say the least😉

Beautiful! I also watched Mely D’s cloud pour which was, of course, also beautiful. What I don’t understand is what is accomplished with doing a pour on top of a pour. You get the cloud effect already with the first pour, which is then covered up by the second pour on top of it. Or what am I missing??? Also, it seems like a very thick layer of paint on the canvas... I’d be afraid it’d crack as it dries. I love the cloud effect and want to try it - just want to make sure I understand it! And thank you for sharing how you create your beautiful art! 🌹

I think Melly D only did 2 pours because on the first one the white ended up really taking over; so she did a second one on top of the first but she added more green on the second round. Conclusion-2 pours are not a requirement to get the desired effect. 😊Happy pouring!

I think I mixed up about 4 oz of each color and at least 8 oz of the white... but watching the video again... I could probably have used way less white... because it takes over whatever colors you used. AND I used way too much paint for an 11X14.... I could have gotten by just pouring 5 oz or so of paint on it...

This is a beautiful pour. Congratulations. I’ve been pouring for a year now, and recently bought Mely D’s original cloud effects painting. I have been unsuccessfully trying to recreate the cloud pour. You do it so easily! I’m starting to work on a theory of effects. Would you mind sharing how many feet above sea level you live? I live only 120 feet above sea level. I’m starting to wonder if altitude is having an affect on the effects. It would have to be significant, though, I think. Hope you aren’t offended by this off the wall question!
@SandraLett5 жыл бұрын
In North Carolina. Had to look it up.. about 500 ft above sea level. I think it is everything to do with half Artists Loft FlowAcrylic and half DecoArt Satin or eggshell white paint.. then it and every color has a small amount of Liquitex pouring medium and the rest is water added until it is a melted ice cream consistency. No silicone. Works like a charm

What do you mix the artists loft white with? My artist loft white in the 32 Oz container is super thick.
@SandraLett5 жыл бұрын
Always 1:1 with Floetrol. Then add water. For the cloud effect. It is 1 part Artist Loft white to 1 part DecoArt White Satin enamel. Mix that up. Then add a squirt of Liquitex pouring medium. Then use Liquitex pouring medium in the colors. This is a MelyD recipe. Then you add water. Don't have ratios. You just have to watch the video

So you said you used about "one or two tablespoons of Liquitex Pouring Medium" and a bunch of water... but how much paint did you put in approximately do you think? And how much artists loft and how much of the enamel did you use?
@SandraLett6 жыл бұрын
I put maybe 2 oz of all other colors, but ended up with at least 6 oz by the time I added the bit of Liquitex PM... it stayed so thick. Kept adding water. The white I probably mixed at least 5 oz each of both brands and ended up with at least 12 oz by the time I was done.. used more pm on it.
@michelel18525 жыл бұрын
So Sandra 2 Oz paint to 6 Oz pouring medium to Artists Loft white and satin enamel and bother colors or 2 Oz of Artists loft white and satin enamel combined with 1 T PM then water to equal 6 Oz. I am so confused.
@michelel18525 жыл бұрын
What is OGX?
@mariecaire41984 жыл бұрын
@@michelel1852 I believe it is OGX coconut milk serum which some people use as their silicone, but, in the written description, she states she didn't use silicone in this pour. She is duplicating MelyD's pour (Simple Is Best - 10 (Cloud Effect)) and MelyD never uses silicone. She did, however, add OXG to a separate pour on the side during this video.
@유사랑-r8k6 жыл бұрын

The reason Mely D poured on top is because she made the mistake of pouring white in the bottom of the cup! You do not have to pour twice, but put your main/favorite color in the bottom followed by the white and then layer the other colors with a bit of white now and then.

Yes... I just did that recently. The white still takes over.. But I agree that you don't have to pour twice.

@@SandraLett might have to do with the thickness - whether it drops to the bottom. In case you want to experiment more....

@@SandraLett maybe if the end of the ring pour is dominated by white you can quickly add a bit of you favorite color to the cup before pouring out the very bottom white, that may have sunk. You will have to halt the pouring process for a few seconds and then continue, but I do not think it will be evident if you have not moved the canvas yet and just hit the middle again. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you! I will remember that for the next time... I appreciate the advice!
