Joe Striker Who said there were no flaws? Every arc has flaws but WCI has many pros most arcs don't have. 1. A rival for Luffy. An opponent he has to go 3 rounds with to beat is very rare. Crocodile, Lucci and Flamingo are the 3 most popular antagonists, largely because they were repeat fights. Characters Luffy couldn't beat the first time round and who beat him within an inch of his life. He hasn't had one in a very long time. 2. They also force Luffy to grow. Gears 2 and 3 in Enies Lobby, Gear 4 for Dressrosa and New haki skills for WCI. Most arcs do not demand this level of growth for Luffy. 3. An overwhelming sense of danger. Everybody agrees, the possibility of taking down the main antagonist of this arc (Big Mom) is impossible for Luffy's group. Outside Sabaody or Marineford, 2 all time fan favorites it is seldom the case that the crew cannot deal with the greatest threat present. Furthermore we have gotten more real-time deaths in this arc than almost any other. 2 of Big Mom's son's, and likely both Pedro and Pound and possibly others. 4. Major character development for many of the Strawhats, most notably Luffy and especially Sanji and multiple other straw hats such as Brook and Nami who have not shown off this much since ever. There's a debate as to who the MVP is whether it's Nami, Brook or the two monster trio members. 5. The 10th Strawhat? Hello? The first new Crew Member in over a decade. Jinbe the Helmsman. 6. Good pacing. Not the fastest arc in the world but when compared to the Flamingo Saga it isn't that slow. There's other great aspects as well. What I want to know is even if this is not a favorite arc subjectively, how WCI is not one of the stronger or even strongest arcs objectively?
