I don't comment much, but I've seen every episode of the Art of Photography, and learned a great deal. This was a most moving video which has inspired me to improve my photography and to spend more time on it. Your video has shown to us all that there are great unsung photographers out there who deserve a larger audience. Thanks for sharing it.

Dear Ted, thank you so much for this moving tribute to the photographer Daan and his works. When you showed Daan's photo on the right at 13:40 at once it reminded me of the beautiful painting 'The Return of the Prodigal Son' by Rembrandt. The dark colour embracing the red, orange and yellow colours. The light. The warmth. The whole feel of Daan's photo feels just like Rembrandt's painting. It feels as a loving tribute to Rembrandt 💛

The internet shows us that the world is full of talented people, such as Dan. Artists creating art for all of the right reasons, which will always outshine commercial pandering. Keep seeing the world through your own special lens. ✌🏻🥳

What a talented man he was ... and what a graceful tribute you've made, Ted. I'm sure Daan could have become one of the really well known photographers, with his wonderful eye, his sense of play, and that human quality (hard to pin down) that comes through in every image. Maybe that can still happen, posthumously. Wonderful that you're doing your bit towards that end, Ted.

I've been watching and truly enjoying some of the shows in here on and off for a few months and this show had a unique feel to it. It felt warm and intimate in a way that was very helpful in understanding more about the photographer and about photography itself. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on how Daan did not limit himself to one specific photography realm. The result is true to the person in all of his complexities. Thank you!

It pains me to see a photographer, especially in my lifetime, to pass. I am glad Daan and his family put together this book. Although we are sometimes our worst critics and refuse to share some photos, I'm glad he ultimately chosen some of these wonderful compositions to make it in this book. Although I have never known this man, I feel a bit of his wonderful personality from these selections and surely he will live on from this stunning book and your tribute. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Ted.

Its a shame that artists like Daan are not appreciated until they pass on :-( I have noticed (through experience) that, if you say that you will 'catch up and go for a coffee' with someone, and you don't! you might (at times) regret not doing so because they are not here anymore!! We live our lives thinking things and people will always be here! but the sad reality is that's just not true! We all love art and the people that make art, what ever that art may be!! BUT why do we wait for them to pass away before we appreciate the work they do and the people they are?? We are all guilty of it! Me included!! Note to self!...... DO what you say you are going to do AND take note of your friends and loved ones loves and interests!! Excellent Video Ted :-) Brought a lump to my throat and a couple of tears to my eyes.

As a Dutch Amateur photographer I feel a little ashamed I didn't know Daan. I'm very pleased you did this video and I'll sure check on his book on Blurb. For being Dutch I was able to read the text in the book. Your description was spot on but with the right translation I think you would understand more of his work. If you want to, I'll be glad to help

Hi Ted, thank you for this video, one thing that stands out in this one is that it’s fine to have a wide range/type of photos as long as it is true good photography. I recently archived multiple of my photographs on Instagram because they were not consistent with the genre i want to fit myself into, but in my heart i know they are good photos, this episode helped me publish them again and be more truthful to myself and honest about my work. If possible please make an episode on why it’s ok to keep your genre wide open in the beginning, i think many of us starters see the work of established photographers and try to fit ourselves into a genre which we ‘think’ we are meant to be good at, i feel this would be an important message and a great tribute to Daan. Thank you for all that you do . @roshclicks from India.

Inspiring as always, esp. since I live in Utrecht myself (the cover pic is great for example, but I also know it as a place where I used to date)... Like many others here it also makes me think about putting photos out there on paper in some form. And since your earlier episodes inspired me to finally set up a dark room and use film again, starting to make some prints again of make some nice holiday gifts is a good start. By the way, do post an update on your online gallery some day ;) Anyway: great episode, also because Daan Hansen seems like such a modest person with such a great passion.
