Hi I have an RTLSDR when i select this in the software it says "Dab stick not found please use one with RTL2832 Chip set any ideas ?

the Hack RF seems to have the best quality sound

It may have a little bit better RF handling than RTL2832 based sticks but still has only very low-Bit ADC and thus has poor sensitivity. The audio sound is not affected at all as long as you do have enough signal for getting receiption at all. Better receiving quality should be realized with the more expensive stuff like USRP1 and newer devices which do have higher bit-width for their ADCs and are more frequency-selective on their input. For that reason there is not such high noise level

Trying it with a hackRF 1 either gets "HackRF not found" or "could not find one or more library functions" when selecting hackRF as an input.

I've been using version 2 for a while. I tried 3.4 today but it crashes after a scan which are not saved it seems. Stations don't show anyway

Which SDR was you using? I also noticed the same issue with certain SDRs and I reported it on the Github Issue page, the developer is looking into the issue I think but if you have the time leave a message on the issue thread I started on github. 👍

Hackrf one on windows 11 isn't working for me , it flashes sync in red and never populates the channels. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any advice ?

Have you considered windows 10, I hear windows 10 works.
