I'm going to the Falklands in February for work. Really looking forward to it as I think we're there for 2 weeks. Is there a new leisure centre in Stanley? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say what I'm doing there but it's to do with a leisure centre or sport centre.

Thank you for this - served on a mountain in West Falkland watching Argentina decades ago. Managed to get 4 days R&R in Stanley....evokes lots of memories - would love to one day return to see how the islands have prospered and take my wife and daughter.... I still get emotional watching vids like this as it shows the sacrifices were worth it.

We were in the Victory Bar that afternoon and a hazy afternoon which I will never forget.....I have played to to many friends and they all laugh at Frog holding his large T short in behind his back...Great clip! My boy is a soldier in the British Army and I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Ignore the Argentine Gen-Z comments. I've found that the older generation Argentines hold the British in higher respect. 14:54 onwards. I thought that was a very good piece. Those photos of fallen British soldiers hide many stories behind them

This looks much like England...with mainly windy and overcast weather...the iconic red telephone booths, post boxes, double-decker buses, and pubs at the corner. The roads are identical to England's, with the traffic moving forward on the left side. Then you turn around and suddenly you see penguins and realize you're in the Falkland Islands.

No Spanish speaking people integrated with the English speaking population means there would be no Spanish language influence on the islands, which is not the case. Also the oldest families in the islands have part of their ancestry from Italy, Spain etc, which is also unexplainable if all the gauchos were gone.

We did get some souvenir coins not notes unfortunately, there was an atm but I can’t remember why we didn’t withdraw any money haha I think it’s because we paid in GBP. Yep they do!! I think the RAF flights are quite expensive though!😅

Most people in England originally came from Northern Ireland Scotland Wales or other parts of British Isles or beyond. Some people commonly refer to British things as English when in actual fact it says on the front of a British passport the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland. During the Falklands conflict of 1982 the UK Task force included service men from all over UK and beyond. The Welch Guards the Scots Guards. The Gurka Regiment. I could go on but if you are genuinely asking a question that is my honest answer to the best of my ability. 🇬🇧

Now they are dumb enough to think Falkland islanders who built everything on those islands and ran them for 200 years don't have the right to self determination, you know, the same right Argentines today claim for their own territory. They think that 9th generation Falklanders should have no right to decide, and that a bunch of Argentines who never set foot on the islands and are just descendants of European colonisers themselves have more right. LOLOLOLOL The islands never were Argentine and never will be. Ever. The referendum is perfectly legit. If you say it isn't and you're an Argentine personally descended from a European settler, then your vote in Argentina should count for zero and you should let the indigenous tribes run the country.

The name "Falklands" was given in 1690 and maps from as early as 1702 show the islands with this name. Argentina never had legitimate control of the islands and started and lost a war in an attempt to seize them.

Unsure if possible now as COVID restrictions were in place and the islanders have respiratory issues already. Due to the genetic pool being limited at best, asthma is a huge problem on the island. It's been studied from a respiratory perspective for decades.

I was considering it but it's so bloody expensive and it's not quite like the Faroes the landscape seems less interesting to me an I'm more into that compared to wildlife. You've already done the best thing on the island. I saw king penguins at the bay by the shipwreck and got some delicious fish and chips in the last pub you've been. What's wrong with peas?? Watching the video makes me think of Iceland, another distant country/island with often very windy weather and generally low population. Hope the Falklands stays safe, there are troubles political ahead. Facinating to watch, this is one place I feel I am very unlikely to ever get to visit.

Milei has been the most reasonable Argentinian President in that way. Javier Milei has admitted that the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands are currently “in the hands of the United Kingdom” and that “there is no instant solution” to recover them. I also read even as a kid was oposing the invasion and was therefore physicially beaten by his dad. Till date he keeps a distanced relation to his parents.

The Falklands were never legitimately owned by Argentina and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands have literally zero historical relation to Argentina whatsoever. The first time a single Argentine person stepped foot on those islands was when they invaded in 1982.

England took the islands when it had full Argentine sovereignty and also killed all the Argentine inhabitants, such a massacre went down in history as one of the most blatant colonialist acts, it's funny to see the English commenting on things like "nobody lived there" when literally rigorous history says yes.
