I have just the main DBS2300 unit, and may add one expansion battery later. One of the things that sold me on it was the low cost per watt hour, and that I could charge it very fast, in just 2 hrs from my generator, (or at a decent rate from solar) then shut off the generator and use the Dabbsson overnight. This unit is unique with being able to charge an expansion unit backup battery independently, and that sounds like a good feature to me. It has a pass-through mode like a UPS where it can also automatically switch over within about 15 ms. It also is one of the first units to use a safer semi-solid state EV battery technology. Adding WiFi and Bluetooth control was a bonus that many of the other companies do not have. If you tap the power switch the display turns off immediately, and the AC power and DC power buttons kill their outputs immediately. I believe the unit times out for a complete shut down in two hours if not being used.

Beta unit quirks aside, honestly, most of these "complaints" are unjustified or just plain ridiculous. The "unit" does not weigh 166 lbs (actually 164.1 lbs). Its 53.1 lbs for the main unit, and 55.5 lbs for each battery unit. Its three separate units, and you do not have to carry all of it at the same time. In any case, the similar Bluetti setup is 221.1 lbs total or about 35% more. Any DIY setup with this capacity and features will easily be in the mid- to upper-200 lb range. Next, it was you who decided to stack the units. You are not required to stack the units. As for charging commentary in general, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. AC charging is via one connection point. You plug in the main unit and it charges the main unit and battery units from that one connection. If you are using this in a home back up situation, what is the problem? You got AC wall plugs everywhere. If you are charging from home solar, you would have a set panel array to inverters and you charge this unit from that setup via AC. The DC input solar charging implementation on these types of units are for occasional, light duty field charging. How many solar panels are you bringing with you in the field? Fifteen 200W folding panels, 500 feet of cabling, combiners, etc.? You bring all that? Of course you don't. Its not a thing. You bring a few 100W-200W panels and you get what you get. If you really need more than that, maybe this product is not for you. Simple as that. But let's say you did provision all those solar panels. The answer is easy. Jumper the solar inputs across the units. Each unit will draw up to its maximum current until its full, and the balance goes to the remaining units until they are full. This is not difficult or complicated, and you are already doing this anyway with the AC. Its not a problem. But you want to offer us help on how to pick a system? You don't even understand this very simple system. 🤣

But what about if or when gas is not available....or if shtf really HARD and the price of gas is too much for the average person?
@dougthompson15989 ай бұрын
A traditional gas generator is a cheaper way to go, but as some point out, gasoline is a commodity and availability might end up being a problem. Second, a generator is hella noisy, and with something like this, you can run some essentials at night without the generator noise, and use the generator during the daytime to run the house things and also charge the power bank. And in a true SHTF, charge via solar ( you'll need more panels and also know how to set them up properly and not fry your batteries) or even a wind-powered generator.

it seems like a really good unit but the price might be out of lot of peoples range. My suggestion if you need this kind of power and you can get some help with the setup. there are Lithium batteries in the 250 amp range.12V 200Ah Plus LiFePO4 Battery, Built-in 200A BMS, Deep Cycle Battery with Max 2560W Output Power, 600 dollars buy 2 its 1200.00 (5100 watt hours) for less than have the price, all the power you will ever need. Matter of fact one battery will run just about all your electrical devices IMO. Ive gone both routs the Power box and the batteries.

I find the cost of the entire systems required to actually, reliably, run anything important in one's home (deep freezer, fridge, heating/cooling), for solar kits is absolutely prohibitive. Especially since the batteries do not have a good life cycle. Too bloody expensive for me. The "cheaper systems" might be ok for a camper but nothing I've looked at is doing anything for a home operation (not even talking about total home backup, no). Because most of us cannot afford to live on a homestead because that is also cost prohibitive beyond imagination. I tried, never worked out well in spite of excellent, solid research - well alone cost more than double due to dry holes and wellhead being so far away from actual possible home site. Water filtration system at least 8K. Septic system 15+k. You gotta be very well off to do this... really appreciate your reviews of these different systems! Very competently done and put in user-relevant perspective. Thanks!
@NOLAgenX Жыл бұрын
The batteries don’t have a good lifecycle? You likely won’t live long enough to take this down to 80% capacity! It’s over 3,500 full discharge and recharge cycles. Even if someone would do this every day then it ‘s about 10 years. RhT’s quite a lot.
@garytrawinski1843 Жыл бұрын

So do you recommend this for solar power panel? So complicated! Will this run a 5000 btu window a/c unit for 8 hours a night?
@christinagardener1889 Жыл бұрын
Dave didn't recommend this one. It's really hard to run a c off of these kind of units because a c uses so much power. Based on the approximately 8,000 watts this unit has, if it was fully charged, would only run a 5,000 watt a c for only a little over an hour. I think a small window unit that cools only 1 room could make it through the 8 hours. It sounds like this unit might be difficult to fully recharge with solar in one day.
@dougthompson15989 ай бұрын
I can run a 1300watt (about 9500 BTU) portable AC unit overnight with this setup, the 2300 plus the two extra batteries. The compressor draws most of the 1300 watts, but isn't running continually once the room is cooled to the set temperature. In an 8 hour period, the power bank will discharge between 50-75% depending on outside temperature and what I set the room temperature to on the AC. I got this to prepare for extended outages after hurricanes. I can recharge it via my gas generator during the day, running the AC in my bedroom from the gas gen during the day too, to keep it cool, and also run the fridge etc from gasoline in the daytime. At night, I will be able to run the portable AC so I can sleep, and keep the fridge/freezer going too. This will not power the entire house for a day, let alone an entire week, but as an emergency "bridge" until the power is back it seems to be acceptable for my use. The next step up, a whole-house backup that's good for a week, is about like buying a car money wise.
