Half of shoto’s body is fire-oriented and half is ice-oriented, split directly down the middle. I believe Dabi’s skin is a patchwork of fire-resistant and ice-resistant, which is why only certain parts of his body are burned.

The theory makes so much sense I hope that it's true if. If it's true that would mean he was not a failure and that endeavor stressed him out so much he didn't discover it. I could imagine toya's reaction to seeing that he had an ice quirk that whole time, probably laugh like a maniac out of joy but I could also imagine endeavors reaction.

It’s possible that dabi can have a ice quirk. For one, the accident. His flames are blue which means it is the hottest fire. There’s no way dabi can escape the accident that caused his “death” unless someone was watching over him(could be stain or his crew). On top of that when you see his scars they look like a deep frostbite. He could have awakened it during the accident since all quirk awakenings happens through stress or trauma. He wasn’t aware of it or the L. O. V. Could possibly have locked it cause he could have overwhelmed them with that quirk. If it’s revealed to be so, then this will make endeavor go in depression. The number one kid he always wanted was right in front of him the whole time. We’ll have to wait and see.

Ive check the various youtubers and so far you and Plot Armor are the only ones who saw the CLEAR and OBVIOUS foreshadowing of Dabi's ice quirk. Good video, keep making better ones as often as possible and you'll have many subs

And yeah when reading the chapter and looking at the flashbacks and what was being shown i thought that there was a lot more to it than just hey im toya. There has to be a reason why his hair changed color and how he survived that fire. Hopefully we find out more in a full on fight between todoroki and dabi late down the road.

Why i think dabi's scars are frostbite, frost bites will make your skin red and hard but deep frostbites can make your purple and it may stay purple after the skin warms up. lol DEEP

My theory is Dabi's scars are from frostbite. I do think he has a secret ice quirk but like his fire quirk it all hurts his body to much. Also if you look up frostbite scars they look more similar to Dabi's scars as opposed to fire burns.

I think that it's fair to note that while it's widely believed that hair color in the Todoroki family dictates the emitter quirk, it's more likely that hair color represents the resistance-type quirk, like how Touya's hair slowly went from red to white, representing his fire resistance slowly changing to ice resistance. The emitter-type quirk is more likely represented by eye color as we've seen throughout the Todoroki family, including Touya. But, does Touya have an ice quirk? It's definitely possible considering he was able to, admittedly unwillingly, switch from fire to ice resistance. Also, given how it's yet to be explained how Dabi survived Sekoto Peak (If we assume that AFO was not involved) it seems extremely likely. Although, since Horikoshi originally had Touya designed with white hair, implying he always had ice resistance, I would say that only time can tell.

Remember Dabi said his quirk is linked to his emotions. His fire became as strong as his rage towards shoto and his father. If he calms his rage and Cools down, maybe he’d create ice

@@Kidoroki To be honest I do believe that Touya / Dabi will get some sort of quirk upgrade. If he is going to be Shoto's major hurdle to overcome, something needs to happen for him because as he is right now, his body is too frail to sustain a long fight with Shoto, who can regulate his own body temperature while Touya / Dabi overheats and burns himself.

hes going to go through an awakening this battle reawakening his ice quirk edit: i think he subconsciously flashfroze himself fully unaware that he did that, and then someone retrieved his frozen body and treated him i then think the ice side was locked away due to trauma like shigarakis decay? so he can still use it but isnt aware yet cause he has to go through a reawakening

In MHA the way some quirks depends on biological mechanisms in order to function properly. So like for example a water type quirk user could think their water comes from their glands in order to create water but the quirks factor actually uses the moisture in the air to gather water. In the case of dabi the ice side of his quirk could depend on using the water/sweat in his body to be used as ice. Hopefully I explained that well enough.

So having his glands and pores damaged would make sense as to why he cant use his ice. Remember we already know dabi can't cry anymore because his tear ducts were burned. Plus not every ice and water quirk works the same way.

Endeavors problem is that he's impatient. If he had just waited toya would have had hero's gear to help him with his quirk he would have been a good hero and shoto would have looked up to him like A lot of little brother to do. Not only that the family what a been fine. If he also had waited he could became number one anyway when all might retired. Because of his impatience hes going to lose the number one spot which he didn't have very long. And who knows how the family is going to feel now. If I had to guess not good.

I think this would be more intense and shocking to the audience and to the characters specifically shoto bc he must defeat him to avenge his father or who knows what will happen to his family. I see three possibilities happening: dabi kills the rest of his family except for shoto and endeavor, dabi kills endeavor first and then kills shoto’s siblings and mother, or endeavor lives and his family dies including shoto. I think the rare one could be my last theory. I think dabi does have some what half and half but is considered a failure bc he couldn’t control his quirk bc it makes him sick.

It's not and Ice Quirk. Dabi inherited his mom's ice resistant, that's why his hair color and that's why he is a failure. EDIT: But I have a theory on how he survive. Dr.Ujiko save him. It's interesting how Dabi seems to know too, TOO much about Nomus. Also, there's one Nomu than only obey his voice (check the Forest Training Camp Arc) I think Dabi is like a sucessor to the doctor.

Not really. I perfectly explained how he would escape and how he could have survived the fire. I said the ice would protect the parts of his body that wasn't on fire. He wouldn't have been trapped in ice. Todoroki can cover half of his body in ice and still move perfectly. He was so badly injured after the fire, yet he was still able to escape from the mountain and endeavor for years. We dont know exactly how he survived it but we know he did. Its already been confirmed. Not really seeing any holes lol in the manga it even says that Toyas body was built to withstand freezing temperatures rather than hot. I honestly just think you might not have understood what I was trying to say, which is fine.
