Ron Atkinson who got caught using the N word whilst doing commentary had been a successful football manager in England. He was actually the manager of Manchester United before Alex Ferguson. Ironically Ron Atkinson was at one time seen as being progressive when it came to giving black football players a chance. Big ron atkinson had spent decades in the game working with and helping young black players. he had given some of them their starts in the game and they looked at him like a father figure. he says he genuinly didnt know why he used that word when he wanted to insult a black player and he was deeply ashamed of himself. he made an entire documentary about racism and where it comes from and why he said it even though he felt he had nothing against black people. im not saying hes a good man or that he didnt deserve to be fired or deserves forgiveness. but i will say at least he dedicated alot of time and effort into understanding his own mistake and trying to redeem himself for it.
