I work at an animal clinic, and so far I have come to own three animals due to the owners not being able to take care of their special needs, or just not wanting them. A little over a year ago, a woman brought in a litter of mini dachshund puppies for their first checkup, and one of them was born with a crooked tail. She broke down crying to me, worried because this one was so needy and she didn’t know if anyone would want her due to her “ugly” tail. I of course did what any animal nut would do; I offered to take her. She was three pounds, all folds and ears and paws. I have had dogs my whole life, and no dog I’ve ever had has been this hard to train. But the love I have for this little wiener is indescribable. I am so so grateful she fell into my lap and into my life. I love her so much.

You get the best of both worlds. You get a full on hound dog in a small package. I grew up with several Dachshunds and I still have several Dachshunds today. They're super clean dogs and very low maintenance. So easy to train and they go to the very back of the yard to do their business. Love em.

In October they played one at my gate, very sick. I took care of him and today he is the joy of the family.We take very good care because we have discovered that he is epileptic. The puppies are all UTTERLY gorgeous, and their red colour is beautiful. Although by now; August 2021, they're all grown up. Love that big brother the Dalmatian didn't mind them jumping all over him. Such wonderful dogs all of them 🐾❤.

This video made me remember my sweet baby boy Lucky. He was my fur baby. He was black and tan and a mini Dachshund. He would lie on his back and let us rub his belly and scratch his ears, he loved to have his belly and ears scratched. He was eleven years old and ruptured his spine the day before Palm Sunday, April 8,2017. He was doing what he loved best, chasing squirrels and ran down the stairs outside and collapsed yelping and going in circles. My mom and I took him to an emergency veterinarian and he looked at Lucky and told us he would never walk again without one of those wheel things and we would have to manipulate him to move his bowels and bladder. It was going to cost 5 thousand dollars to operate on him. My mom simply couldn't afford it so we had no alternative but to have him put to sleep. This broke our hearts. I hope someday we can get another Dachshund. Lucky born February 19,2006, died April 8, 2017.

A lot of years ago, my dachshund tangled with one of my sister's and hers had pups. When their eyes opened, she asked me to come see them. And bring that dog! We went down and she put her females out. She put the pups on the floor and he had a ball sniffing them, wagging his tail, and loved them. then, the horror happened. He was laying on the floor all grins and one of the pups figured this was another mama. He screamed and slammed into me on a chair. Milk teeth are like needles. After that, when the pups were around he would hide behind me, but watched them and whined, eager to play, terrified of being attacked again.
