I have thought of this difference in life spans many times...Have added it to my list of questions for God, after I pass over...The best answer I have for their lives being (waaaay too) short in contrast to ours is -- Dogs are Pure Love, Unconditional Love! All they truly want is to be with you, to be your friend and helper, a little play time and some of your food and water. That's all...I believe, because they are so pure of heart and spirit, they are here for just a little while...then, they head to the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for your return to the Light. In the meantime, another 4-legged friend is sent your way to love you, comfort you and bring you Joy... So make EVERY day you have and EVERY moment w/them count! #LabLover 💞🐕💞 #LabsAreTheBEST 💞🐕💞

The other sad thing is how many dogs are euthanized every year, perfectly beautiful, healthy, good, loving dogs. I wish people would learn about what they are doing when they allow their pets to indiscriminately breed. You don't know what you don't know. The AKC has free information on breeding. People seem to be oblivious as to why they shouldn't be back yard breeders.

Tom, we are ALL sorry for your loss. Here the girls lost their pup(I never bonded but he had an adorable face, and I cried right along with them, he was family, like a sibling to them and a distant cousin to me) and we all told ourselves no more dogs. We had an older adopted pup and said she would now be our only fur baby. She was visually saddened without her buddy. 4 months later we started a search. I had many dogs over my life time, a Blue Tick coonhound , a Scott Terrier, a Jack(2 actually, different times, 1 male broken coat/1 female wire), several Pits(from Wisconsin and Canadian Champion pulling stock, sweet babies), 2 Shelties(@ different times,1 male adopted, 1 female purchased, both lovely herder’s), more Great Danes than I can count(bred and shown to Champion and sold except for 2 that were my babies for life), and a Giant Schnauzer(shown to Champion and kept for life, family sweetie) and 3 Golden Retriever’s. Lots of planned pups and all loved and cared for like the family members they were. Placing them was sometimes very hard, people wanted them shown and pointed before they took(bought) them. That was rough as they took a piece of our hearts with them, some grew old and died, in their bed one night or one afternoon during their nap, taking a piece of our hearts to heaven with them. A few had litters, well planned and as the video only hinted, with lots of work. (Loved that you fed the pups and mom a top quality food-appeared to be Blue). Your video was a top quality one, showing the love and tenderness that went into the litter but not much of the work, effort, work, sweat, work, sadness at placement, and the re-bonding with the momma afterwards, as she needs you so much. FYI: we found a lovely little girl Golden that we plan to be our family pup, to love, to spoil, to share our lives with for as long as possible. Maybe in time, you will start a search(ours took 3 months), and find a new family member to share your life with as you grow older. Life is just better with a pup. No rush. If, when, you decide to extend the family, make an informed choice and find a litter that was loved, socialized, and well cared for as these pups were. We changed breeds along the way as kids wanted something different, or a friend from a show had a pup that we just fell in love with and we decided one day to have one too. And we even have a pup that adopted bus from the roadside, in February, by a frozen creek, and snow filled corn field. You never know where love will grab you heart. Again, so sorry for your loss.

I’ve had my pup (she’s a chocolate lab) for just over 2 years now. I swear it was only yesterday when I went to see her as a puppy and she sat down right in front of me for her picture. Once I took the picture, she came and gave me a hug. I knew she was the one for me when she did that. The connection was instant and I loved her so much from that moment on. The only thing I don’t like about her was how fast she grew up 😂. I swear I blinked and boom, she’s a chunky, loving and just the sweetest thing ever. I feel like a parent with her and she is my world, my baby. She’s helped me through my depression with the many things that happened in such a short period and I think she knows she saved me. Dogs are such amazing things.

The couple who live in the house behind my back fence (suburban neighborhood, chain link fences) have a beautiful chocolate Labrador Retriever. She’s about 6 months old an is still very puppyish, energetic, and out of control enthusiastic for contact whenever I get a chance to greet her. Not that her owners ignore or neglect her, she loves attention and thrives on it. The whole back half of her body swings back and forth when she wags her tail! I feel bad when I’m going somewhere and she sees me and I don’t have time to give her a few minutes of attention and a few back scratches over the fence. 🙁
