I really like the details in your github repo, well done. Typing this on a dactyl lightcycle myself and was looking around for my second keyboard. Did you by chance try out an original dactyl or even dactyl lightcycle (the smaller version from matt adereth)? The thumb cluster in your board looks good at first glance, but i've read somewhere that the person actually did not like it after using the keyboard for a while. For me, most keys on the thumb cluster of dactyl lightcycle are easily reachable, but I kind of dislike the overall height of the board and the fact that it is not really usable without a wrist rest. Your board does not look that tall, is it usable without a wrist rest? More specifically, is it usable while placing your wrist on the table? Btw: I also think it would be an improvement for this board to have the inner thumb key "lower" so that you can get one more key on the inner side of the last row. That way the thumb key is still nicely reachable but you have another key for your index finger that is easily reachable (whidh is really nice on a board with not that many keys). I feel like your design is the most practical, but overall the lightcycle board looks really good and professional, while most of the dactyl-manuform boards do not look that nice, but are for sure ergonomic and fullfill their purpose.

@@bastardkb I meant that if you move the most "inner" thumb key a bit lower than you have space to put another key in the bottom row in the well (the row that has less keys than the others). I think the index finger can easily reach two rows underneath the "home row" and thus you have one more very usable key position. That would be the same as in the lightcycle dactyl, just look it up then you'll know what I meant. The lightcycle also has 5 keys within the thumb cluster and I personally also do not need more. Since the lightcycle and yours are actually quite similar in the number of keys and positions, you could actually "start" with it and just make it more practically usable like yours. The lightcycle for example does not have nice solution for the screws, it also has less space for the wiring and positioning of the teensy/trrs jack/usb-c adapter. Also yours seems more stable because it has no feet, on the other hand the feet make it look more pleasant. Also, if you ever print the dactyl, print the bottom half upright with the side that has the holes for trrs etc. on the bottom. That way the feet are much more stable. If you print it lengthsways the feet break easily.

And the spamming continues :D Where can I read more about the missing steps between getting and flashing the HC-06 and actually using it in the keyboard? Stuff like battery, wiring etc. I was looking at using bluetooth for my next board but the lack of end-to-end guides for newbs like me prevents me from doing that, although I don't mind investing some time because it's fun.

Thank you for the quick reply! I think I just found your Reddit post about going solo. I’ll visit your new website and check things out. Although I have solder electronics before, I don’t think I wanna tackle this on my own. I can wait; I’ll just exercise my wrists lmao :)
