Defeat is an orphan, victory has a thousand fathers. I love that saying from your dad.

What a great chapter that has been for your family! I am a drummer in the Royal Marines and have played several times in the Tower (mostly constable dues or when the Royal Navy was on guard change in 2019), it's always a special place to be. Also great choice of music in the end, also played at the reception.

I really enjoyed listening to both of you chat about this. I've wanted to visit the Tower of London since I was a kid. I was going to go when I was in London in April but it didn't really fit into my plans. I kinda regret that. Hopefully next time I'm in London I'll make it. Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing!

Wow absolutely the most moving interview. I love the Tower and spend a lot of time there just taking in the history and the atmosphere, it really is a place that makes you think !! I hope you will be doing more Dad interviews as you all move onto the next chapters of your lives. I wish you all the best and looking forward to booking tickets to one of your shows in the near future. 👍😁

Sad not to have managed to see your family when I was at the tower for public duties back in October/November, absolutely fantastic experience and can only imagine what it was like to live there. Big fan of everything you're doing. - Your cousin Ciaron

Heya Tom, Thanks so much for putting this up, I’ve just caught it in Australia, already a little homesick (though paradoxically feeling fitter than in many years here), this has moved me to tears. You got some great stuff out of your dad and I do miss him dearly, his closing comments were spot on. It was a particularly well directed farewell sequence, a good, poignant shot of your mum closing the door … a really well put together piece. Please pass on my best wishes to both of them, I too didn’t want to leave, I know how they feel. Do get your agent to book you in to play Barnstaple sometime, stay over at my wee place and help me walk FitzRoy, we’ll also sup at the Beaver.* You’ll love Appledore, it’s similar to Richmond in as much as it’s like living in a novel; everyone is a character and they all seem to have a plot, no sinister characters though, they’re all good people … my own plot line is still in development. Merry Christmas to you and your family please remember me to them and give them my love. Yours aye Bill C 373 * The Beaver Inn, it does food so we can munch there too!

I just finished watching. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I think you and your dad are strong examples of thoughtful men at different stages of life. And I think a book about your family's experiences at the Tower would be a very good read.
