I wish the mother stood up for the kids, maybe Tristan and Gabe would still be alive if she fought for them and showed that their mother also cared about them. Those poor kids were neglected, especially Tristan who definitely suffered the most emotional abuse out of the three just because he was different. I feel so bad for Tristan and Gabe. They tried so hard to impress their father, and he didn’t even feel sad when they died. He only cared about himself being the best. Even though Marcus made it through, it was still sad ending. It would have been nice if the mom and children left the dad, and lived their own life.

It's kind of a broken lesson when the remaining son lets that asshole be around his own family when he hasn't changed at all. The message would mean more if he cut ties with his father entirely and dumped him in a nursing home. Because, yeah, that's reality. If your abusive parent is unwilling to change (esp. when their actions caused you to lose your siblings), you're within your rights to cut contact with them and move on. Bonus points if the dad's wife leaves him, too (since she basically lost all three of her sons because of him). So his unwillingness to change left this old man alone. Now *that's* a life lesson.
