Protective order needs to be back in place because he flipped the bird? That was a threat to his wife? What would happen if it was in person???? People who are in active duty, stupid, going through way more then him, would NEVER have done what he did. Poor Mr Josephson. He stood up for you. You offended all of them. What if his kids see this? Is this showing a good lesson? She claims he isn’t a good father. He got a way better deal then he deserves in hindsight. He explains to her that he didn’t think the camera was on. He did it because it was a f you to all those who told him he couldn’t get his kids. She says this will show up again. His ex will likely bring it up in their divorce AND SHOW HIS KIDS. They didn’t want to be here today, they didn’t want to be here for a year and a half- it’s his fault he’s here. She claims he is not much better off then he was when the case began. He explains he was referring to drug use. She interrupts and says it was also DV and hopefully he hadn’t continued those issues. She says his employer would t want to hear he did this. And he’s driving a company car. If he would do this, how do we know he would not have road rage. When he still isn’t reacting, she goes at him and says that she feels bad for his dog. How do we know he doesn’t go home and kick his dog. Maybe the law needs to be called on him? Maybe he shouldn’t have unsupervised visits with his children if this “violent” behavior is going to continue. “If you’re dumb enough to flip us the bird, how do we know you aren’t on drugs.” She hopes that his employer does random drug tests. He says they do and he just passed one last week. She says that employer levels are probably not the same as CPS. He states he has then done in the same place as the CPS. She didn’t get him with that, so she goes back to his treatment toward his ex. After she hasn’t gotten to him, she asks his ex if he has paid child support, clearly hoping that he hadn’t so she could go after him. His ex says he has paid her in full on time. His lawyer put her in her place very calmly and politely. And then she asked for anyone else’s comments. When nobody spoke up, she wasn’t very happy about it. So, she threw a payment judgement at him essentially stating it’s because of him flipping the bird. And charged him another $750. Again, the finger has been determined as freedom of speech. She has gone way too far with this and it makes me sick.

That being said, if he’s having “impulse control” issues he should be in intensive treatment. Your comment doesn't make any sense. You just said that if he has impulse control issues, he needs intensive therapy. But then you go on to say that he knew exactly what he was doing, because you know right from wrong, and your PTSD allows you to differentiate and react appropriately. Has your PTSD also caused you to forget that PTSD manifest differently, and some people cannot control themselves?

In the second case, I was looking at all 12 squares in this zoom. Two squares were the parents, two squares were, I believe, each parents lawyer. So of the 12 squares, 8 of the squares represented public employees of that state. Think of how much just this one zoom hearing cost the tax payers of that state. The cost just in the judicial system, CPS, etc ....is just staggering. So we wonder why taxes need to be paid. Wealthy 1% need to pay their fair share as well.

So the guy flips off the judge, or whoever, doesn't really matter, and she then proceeds to do everything she can to make him look bad. Discrediting his military service, calling him dumb, saying she feels bad for his dog, making light of his homelessness and drug addiction, and making judgments that are obviously biased. I knew the judge was full of absolute crap when she said that even people that didn't see him flip off the camera were offended. How can you be offended if you didn't even witness it? Because someone told you about it? That's called hearsay. And in this day and age, If you're offended by someone flipping you the bird, you've got some pretty thin skin.

I have C-PTSD. Every case is different. I can't say another's illness, experience and reactions will be just like mine. Mine is unique to me, and his will be unique to him. A great deal of the ignorance to PTSD is people not understanding it because they think one will respond and experience what they or their friend with it, while one's experience is irrelevant to another's. His personal struggles post-war is not the same as mine, so I can't say he should react exactly as I do to my case. That ignorance hurts all. Some struggle severely with anger and impulse control; while others retrat into themselves with silence. Some self medicate with addiction and reckless behavior; while others obsess about dangers, refusing all risk.

And that is exactly what is happening in this courtroom today. That judge is fully aware that he has a mental illness. And then she does this. And then she goes to blame the entire thing on him. This is the best explanation. I genuinely believe ALL mental health illnesses are on a spectrum. The way people look at all mental health illnesses is similar to how people look at Autism. Not every person with Autism is a savant (Rain man syndrome) Nor are they Non-verbal. It's autism SPECTRUM disorder. I hope people start looking at not just PTSD but ALL mental health illnesses as being on a spectrum. Then maybe the world would be more understanding of others and their circumstances.

We can't blame ptsd on him being an idiot. That's an excuse and it shouldn't be used as such. Also, while I thank them both for their service, it's a well known fact that most everyone who gets out of the military are instructed to file disability and use ptsd if they have to ,to get a high rating. If he can’t control himself due to PTSD in court, then how is he going to control himself with his children?

Absolutely….life is stressful and when raising kids it can double or triple…..this may sound terrible but I think some of this is an adult tantrum. Also wonder how much this guy really means what he says…looks like he might just go thru the motions. Hope he can do better….at least for the kids anyway.

This scares me then on how he would act with minor children. Don’t you think if he acts this way for a short time with a Judge? If he isn’t getting the help he needs and on medication or if it isn’t under control, who protects the children from hours of them being around this man? What potential harm could come from him. We don’t need to take away rights from PTSD victims at all but PTSD victims that can’t control themselves in front of a Judge for a sort time, is concerning.

Well, given that he loves his kids, as evidence by his efforts to go through all the treatment programs and comply with court orders, he's going to treat them differently than a judge who has more than likely treated him like crap this entire case. I mean, she started out by blaming the entire thing on him. If that's what she's thinking, that's the way she's been treating him since day one. He hasn't gotten a fair case, and he wanted everybody in that courtroom to know that even though he didn't get a fair case, he still got exactly what he said he would.

My resident psychiatrist at the VA said he didn’t want to work at the VA because most clients had no interest in improving their mental illness or playing the victim. There is also a financial incentive because if they are better the VA can reduce their service connection percentage. There is also a severe shortage of mental health professionals at the VA. I also feel the military needs to do a better job of vetting recruits for mental illness because they are looking for any one to fill a quota. I’m a Vietnam Era veteran and the draft allowed them to recuit college students and higher educated individuals, especially if they had no clout in the political or higher social economic status.

I do appreciate this judge, a 2 to 3 minute rant would’ve sufficed, personally, I wish they would just abolish the fingers/hand, gestures, sticks, and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me, but words are also freedom of speech, unless you’re defaming, spewing, someone has diseases or has done something to kids, just saying that to get a upper hand in a case, etc. it’s 2023, and we are so offended by the finger. It’s ridiculous, especially in light of the last 3 years, flip me off, use the pinky, I don’t care, as long as no one’s physically assaulting me, I find it funny nowadays, and I’m 49 years old, one might think these moms, who don’t want to work, who have 5 to 8 children, doing drugs, living off the state, dads, who knows where any of those are, and we’re going over and over him using a middle finger, what a waste of courts time, just saying, my opinion✌🏻

Nope. She takes the time she needs to impress upon his brain (and all the people there) what is expected and demanded decorum of the court. This (if you watched) will have long term effects in his upcoming court cases (3 more indictments?) etc. He would have helped himself tremendously had he wrangled his ire for the judge and did NOT FLIP HER (AND THE COURT) OFF. You may think it was time wasted, but NOPE, it is necessary to let ALL THERE of the situation, and have ALL understand the current AND FUTURE REPERCUSSIONS WHICH ARE MANY. I do hope you figure this out, knowledge is good and can help in the future, possibly YOUR future, or family/friends/acquaintances... He literally admitted that he flipped them off thinking the camera wasn’t on. He knew he flipped them off. It was everything she said it was, so apologizing for his mental issues is confounding to me. He deserved the berating he has gotten, especially if he hasn’t been following his CPS plan, has been on meth (which he admits to along with domestic violence, that starts this case off) and has drug his case on in front of this judge for over a year and a half. He absolutely knows better. My son just finished basic training and knows not to flip the bird to a superior. He’s copping an attitude the whole time on this video, so no wonder she has finally, after a year and a half of dealing with him, lost it on him! Go Judge! Have some respect for the da*n court!

I’ve watched enough of these to know the parents who get their kids back, worked extremely hard to do so and EARNED it. Idk I’ve not seen their hearings but I think a reprimand, ask for an apology and move on.
