Phrases and words like "I want to touch you" "make you mine" "deep into you" "in your heart" These are either not meant in the physical sense or are mutliple layers of meaning with metaphorical emphasis. This song is a Japanese single. It's not a market that accepts freaky, physical sex and love songs. They are talking to ARMY. Dont get it twisted, I am not infantilzing the guys. They can get freaky and use adult language when they want to, as you have seen with JK on Seven. Yoongi has an angry song to his haters (his debut solo single Agust D off the album of the same name), which is packed full of sexual inuendos, double entendres and explicit lines. A couple of lines he uses repeatedly to refer to his rapping in multiples songs are "tongue technology" and "flow job" which are both obvious double entendres. He also likes to say that his rap will "Take you to Hong Kong" no matter your gender/sexuality. It's often translated as "Turn you on" in subs for simplicity, but the phrase is a S Korean idiom, which means to make you sexually climax. The rap line, in particular, knows how to deliver these kinds of messages. But remember that their country/culture and their music industry is much more conservative than in the West. BTS often push the envelope and is seen as scandalous at times with their messaging, often for challenging political or cultural ills or speaking truth to power. Often if S Koreans have a more scandalous or overtly sexual message, it's deeply couched in metaphor and wordplay. BTS doesn't really write songs like that, with very rare exceptions.

Hang on Dad, I believe that this is one of their most beautiful , nostalgia inducing & heart touching songs . I cried the first 3 times i ever listened to "Stay Gold". It somehow , really just hits you in the feels department. It has stayed in my rotation since December 2020, 1 month right after my husband passed away. Not gonna go there... & then you totally went there! 😂 In the US, we're used to most of our music being about love relationships or loss of love relationships or why don't I have a love relationship?! Not sure why, because there are infinite topics to sing about... It takes awhile to get used to the idea that BTS isn't always singing about that. Not that they never do, but I think they really try to write lyrics that have universal meaning & can be relatable to anyone, of any age, & interpreted in various ways. Also, it's likely that some nuances of meaning are lost in translation from Korean to English, because we see things through a different cultural viewpoint at times & our languages are so different. This song was released during the pandemic (June 19, 2020), when everything was shut down, and this was their pre-release lead single to the Japanese version of their MOTS album - Map of the Soul 7: The Journey. This whole album has Japanese versions of many of their MOTS songs, plus new original Japanese songs. I do believe this was a song to ARMY, because of the ARMY references in the MV and song.

Agree - just let it go! Their songs can be interpreted in any way the listener chooses BUT the BTS intention is totally about the well being of ARMY as a whole. Of course, many of their songs talk about love and certainly JK, RM & other members talk about sexual love in their solo & a few group songs. But to be looking for sexual interpretations from every song is doing their songwriting a massive disservice. While it is funny, at times, it is also showing that you, @TheLonelyDad , are still seeing BTS with the typical western boy band stereotypical tropes. You should know by now that BTS' love songs are NEVER simply a love song! Stay Gold is yet another love song intended to comfort ARMY. It's about finding the light inside yourself when the world around you is dark. There is a good explanation video by Bookish Theories that you may like. Look, we know they are young men in their late 20s/early 30s and have certainly known sexual affection or perhaps even love, and in fact we WANT them to experience that normal family life which they have often said they want. The fact is that their schedules have simply never offered time for romance. I am assuming their physical needs were probably met on a business basis - there are many facilities for that in Korea, and for women to meet similar needs safely too. However their songs, while they may drop hints, are seldom about that and are usually written for ARMY and BTS, speaking of the very particular relationship between us. Sure, there's an element of sexuality to this too - even old women like me still have fantasies! That's OK. ARMYs are pretty clear on the difference: only non-ARMYs, or Saesaengs, wilfully misdirect these songs to speak of a potential encounter with a BTS member.... that happens, but it's also another reason why ARMYs are protective! This song was indeed a pandemic song, and Oh M G, it was a much needed warm hug...

Sorry, but almost none of their songs are "love songs" in the conventional romantic sense. There are very few romantic love songs in their catalog of many hundreds of songs. Some are: Just One Day, Boy with Luv, Boy In Luv, Like, Coffee, and so on, but even most of those they dedicate to ARMY. Many other songs that sound like love songs are actually about each other/their brotherhood, or about familial, self, or other types of love. This one, like many of their songs about different types of love, is addressed to ARMY, and was a single that came out during the height of the pandemic lockdown. It is about hope and staying hopeful and staying youself and loving one another, even when the world around us is bleak, as you see in the MV. Commenter Kasiapatalong has a great explanation of the song's meaning in their comment. It is inspired by poet Robert Frost.

Again, when you hear a song and it implies that it is a love song, it is usually meant about ARMY. They do not make songs about just dating or girls or relationships as in two people dating and they do not imply sex in any of them, until JK did his explicit Seven song, lol. Their love is truly ARMY and each other so their songs are for ARMY and each other. They do not sing about relationships like Americans do, which have very little depth to them. They have way more depth and respect. Asian cultures in general are very different from America. They do not curse in songs or sing about sex or big booties or other body parts, lol. Up until the past couple of years BTS never cursed in any songs or in public or on any lives. For the first years they wouldn't even show their foreheads because that is taboo in Korea. As well as showing any skin. You can see in many of their videos from earlier days if any skin, besides some uncovered arms, was showing in a video it was covered up by some kind of emoji. I get why you keep thinking songs are about significant others like how most boy groups sing. You've never seen them sit and talk to us like we're their best friends, best girls/guys and their therapists. They have a few love songs but USUALLY when they are talking about deep love it's towards ARMY, themselves (as in they are trying to love themselves) or each other. You think I'm kidding but I'm not.
