Since I'll Be Missing You is a sample/remix of the Sting's ( of the The Police) song 'Every Breath You Take' which was a massive hit in 1983, Sting was very pleased with BTS and gave them the big Thumbs up.

I'd never heard this version, the song it self was my late brothers favorite song. He died five years ago on July 3rd the family hosts a cookout to share stories laughs and tears, and his favorite music. I'll be playing this song this year. Also thanks for the Jimin joke... If I am remembering correctly this cover was done right after stuff started opening up after Covid: RM changed part of his verse to say, "Do anything to see half your face" because at the time even the people you could see (which were few) all were wearing masks so only half of their face would show. Suga did his own lyrics again referencing the pandemic with the English translation for his verse being: "We’re now used to our routines taken away But still can’t give up living on We’re more worn out because we don’t know where this ends We’re an island we made ourselves because we couldn’t trust each other. The cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" is also really good. There is a note that Jin hits that gives me chills every time I hear it just like Jimin's "somebody tell me why" in this one. I also absolutely love Tae in this video, and I love that not only can you hear his accent, but you can see it when he sings (Is hard to explain and I know I'm a little weird, but I absolutely love it).

This was the only performance of "I'll Be Missing You," and they did it special for BBC. If you listen to RM's verse, some of the words were changed. Mainly "Just to see half your face." As well as Suga's and Hobi's verses were all about covid. And what it has taken from us. The reason for the cowboy outfits, it was during the "Permission to Dance" era, and yes, they did perform that to on the BBC special. You should hear they cover of Coldplays "Fix You" for MTV Unplugged. It is what got Coldplay's (well a friend of theirs) attention enuf to do a song with them called "My Universe." There are no Eng subs for the Korean lyrics, because this was filmed by the BBC and perhaps they don't usually have Korean translators on hand for UK productions. This was during the "Butter"/"Permission To Dance" era, where they were singing in English, so perhaps the UK team was caught unaware when they suddenly rapped in Korean for what should also have been a song sung entirely in Englilsh. Also, those outfits are similar to the ones they wore in the "Permission To Dance" music video, where they went for a western cowboy concept and wore a lot of blue denim. This performance was for BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge", and the other 2 songs they performed were "Butter" and "Permission To Dance".

I...have to admit. Due to the song they sampled, I hated that song when it first came out. Jimin's "Somebody tell me why"...? Yeah. I had it on repeat for 6 hours straight after it originally aired. Note: There is a lyric video for it if you're curious about the Korean in the song. As stated before, do take the lyric videos with a grain of salt...or the whole salt lick sometimes...but they do usually at least give you the gist of what they're saying. Especially since there is no "word for word" translation of Korean to English (or vice versa) due to completely different sentence structure between the two languages.

This song is special to me, my brother passed away in 2002 aged 25 and we played this song at his funeral. Couldn't listen to it for a long time after. I love that BTS have sung it though, it's a beautiful song and they sing it so beautifully too.

It took me 10+ years later to except it after talking to a few friends.
