WELLESLEY, Mass. -A Wellesley father is paying his daughter to give up Facebook.
She came to me a few weeks ago and said, 'Dad, I'm getting a little tired of Facebook. Would you pay for me not to be on it?' And I thought she was kidding. I said, 'Go away!'" Paul Baier said.
It turns out that Baier's 14-year-old daughter was serious about quitting Facebook. Earlier this week, the Wellesley father and daughter signed a contract.
"I'll have access to Facebook to change her password, so she's not tempted. And, I plan to use, or she plans to use the money for, 'to buy stuff''. And we both signed it," Baier said.
The payoff is $200 if she can stay off Facebook until the end of the school year.
"She's pretty good about honoring contracts and stuff," he said.
