Amazing video.. It’s crazy how many people go through so much traumas from this abusive drugs. I chatted with Ross a few times, due to a support ticket I submitted early on during TSR’s run. I only knew him as The Dread Pirate Roberts at that time of course. I’ve been clean now for 7 years, but I was addicted to oxycodone for 6 years, and got scammed by a vendor called, “New York Fuego” on an order for 20 x 30mg oxycodone pills for $400, which he never shipped. He was super nice and helpful. He resolved my issue and refunded my $400 in less than 24 hours and then banned the vendor who scammed me.

Ross had to manually approve all refunds until later on in TSR’s life. He didn’t have a real support staff until the latter half of 2012 and it opened in 2011. There are literally hundreds, if not, thousands of others who chatted with him because of support tickets as well. I wasn’t saying it was some rare thing that only I experienced. I don’t know why you’d think i’d lie about something so random and stupid for no reason. I’m not a “kiddo” either. I was like 25 at that time.

yeah but what they did is mostly warrented to minor charges. there are thousands of people who do money laundering and get less than 4 years and obstruction of justice is a minor crime. as long as he didn't have intent to distribute narcotics etc, he wouldn't get as harsh of punishment. of course law enforcement know this so they aren't stupid enough to have intent to distribute etc. but they will money launder extort or obstruct justice as they know it will be minor charges.

To everyone wondering why he got such a harsh sentence, there are three reasons. 1. The judge said she wanted to make an example out of him as a deterrent against others 2. The murder-for-hire charges were dropped, but judges can and in this case did, consider uncharged allegations in your sentence as aggravating factors 3. He was offered a plea deal, but turned it down and took his chances at trial (The feds have a 95% or higher conviction rate). If you do that, they always throw the book at you and pursue the maximum possible sentence. I’m not justifying it, just explaining the reasons.

A friend told me, during the Silk Road era, he could finally relax about his drug habit since the negative pressure to go to his street dealer was off his shoulders, when he placed his orders online. Bro he killed probably hundreds of people with drugs, and probably fucked up families. This is the biggest and one of the earliest drug selling websites on the internet. How many teenagers do you think got high from him? How many lives has he fucked up? That was the least that needed to have happened to him. I had read that the plea deal wasn't all that great. 10 years to life instead of multiple life sentences. He would've stood a better chance of being released, but still could well have served the majority of his life in prison.

I bought a few things from silk road several years ago (specifically LSD, Xanax, and Oxycontin). I enjoyed the amazon-esque format, the rating system made it easier to find trustworthy dealers who were less likely to cut your product with other crap than some random thug you met on the street, and you could also purchase drug testing kits and the like if you wanted to be certain. It was a very civil and safe way for people to buy drugs that was distinctly preferable to dealing with gangsters directly. So much money and energy is wasted on the misguided war on drugs. Nothing is resolved by targeting online marketplaces like this, It only makes things more dangerous for the people involved. "What you did in connection with silk road was terribly destructive to our social fabric." Indeed. Fuck that judge, completely out of touch. The only thing Ulbricht did wrong was conspiring to murder people, which ironically he wasn't charged for.

Yeah the war on drugs is what keeps the criminal justice system up and running. They won't lose their authority if drugs became legal but they (judges, and law enforcement in general) want to exercise their authority in controlling our lives and limit our experiences. Ross and I were incarcerated for an eight-month period in 2013 shortly after his arrest. During our many conversations I always thought, could this be the guy that put a hit out? Is this guy capable of murder? The answer to that question is a firm no. That was an attempt by the federal government to discredit his appeal, which was vast. They put the story out but failed to charge him. That was purely intentional. They knew it would always stand as an addendum to his story. Don't let it.

Unless they received something unknowingly there's nobody else to blame and its extremely unlikely their first stop to get said drugs was from an dark web site meaning they're getting them one way or another. If anything Ross provided a safer more secure affordable and trustworthy way to recieve what people were going to get anyway. Hes on the hook for the attempted murders but I dont see how it's his doing people were selling drugs on his site. If I offer a place where people can buy and sell anything they want and they decide to sell drugs that's on them. Also, all that BITCOIN he had which had to be in the hundreds of thousands back then would be worth billions today, I wonder where all that went??? ya. messed up . If you look at most drug people even petty ones they go to jail and always come back out. I don't think he should have got life in prison. Even the other attorney didn't ask for that long of a sentence!! The judge just decided to do way longer. I think he should have go many years until his 60's/70's, Then he gets out then. What it's even more messed up too is people that kill each other.....one person kills another....that person can sometimes get only 15-20 years in prison. Of course it all depends on the case and person. That's why I just said sometimes.

Whenever I take time to look deeper into why anything in my life is the way it is, the more crooked things get. I've never been wrong there. This is why I like to keep my attention focused on what is in my control. Becoming aware of the way things are run on a larger scale generally just makes me angry and that does nothing to change the circumstances. I hope that one day I can affect the large changes I want in the world. But for today, I am going to work on myself so that when the opportunity comes, I will be ready to take the opportunity by the nuts.
