After you cast speak with the dead you can recast it for free until you take a long rest. Unfortunately with the controller you have to manually add the recast ability to one of you radials every time. On keyboard and mouse it automatically appears in the temporary abilities section of your hotbar.

You were confused about the brother "wasn't a sheep" answer because you attacked the red caps right away. If you had approached them and spoke calmly they would have said "Baa" at you and your character would realize they were pretending to be a sheep because they didn't realize you had already seen through the illusion.

Having watched the whole video, let me commend you on the progress you've made! You seem to have combat pretty much figured out now (except for the occasional spell slot wasted on Sanctuary), and it shows by how smoothly fights go down. I also enjoy seeing things I've never seen before, like the Kagha redemption arc, or the mind flayer skill tree. And you're mostly right about act one, you've probably explored 90% of the map by now. Or did you? There might be further maps/areas in act 1 you haven't even discovered yet. Who knows... 😏

Yeah I was so pumped about the Kagha redemption arc!

You stumbled upon the letter to Kaga by accident, there is actually a book that leads to a quest for it. If you don’t persuade Kaga to join you she and some druids will fight against you, others like Wrath will fight for you.

Love that you found the Shadow Druid conspiracy. I totally missed it on my first playthrough. It’s probably the most satisfying ending for the druid/tiefling conflict, which can genuinely end in a bloodbath.

The letter and Kagha's redemption are actually new to me. I never saw any of it. Well done!

I get why you are pretty happy with Magic Missile curently. It should be mentioned that is also due to the staff you are using. It adds lightning damage multiple times because of the way that spell works (first dart builds Lightning charges, following darts/hits do additional damage with them ... the blue numbers you see popping up when it lands). Later in the game Magic Missile's meager base damage is outpaced by higher level spells and it becomes mostly useful as a way to clean out damaged but not yet dead enemies.

45:54 kagah and a few of the “good” druids side with her Rath and most of the druids still help you.

I would suggest re-speccing Karlach to give her the Tavern Brawler feat at level 4. This adds her strength modifier twice to thrown weapons and improvised weapon attacks (picking up one creature and using it to beat another to death or throwing it at them). The reason this feat is so good is that the double modifier applies to attack rolls as well as damage. Making her deadly accurate with thrown weapons. Combined with the Ring of Flinging from the grove vendor, she becomes really good mobile artillery with spears, javelins, tridents etc. You just have to remember to pick them up again after fights.

People already spoiled that Halsin is a potential companion sooo i guess it's okay to say that Minthara is one as well? You have to knock her out with non lethal dmg though, she will join later.

Magic missile is 1d4+1 for each missile. Which means they each hit for 2-5 damage. The Quick Look at the spell in combat only says how much damage it will do if you use all missiles on the same target, which when you have 3 missiles at level 1, the damage range is 6-15.
@garykeeling227513 күн бұрын
The 1st level version of magic missile is guaranteed to hit for at least six, but only if you put all three of the projectiles on the same target, because each projectile does 1d4+1, so each projectile does 2-5. Also, the other characters can use tadpole powers, but you have to enter dilogue with them and convince them to do it, first. You'll be finding plenty of tadpoles, so you can split them between different characters. The tadpole powers are only unlocked after you obtain a parasite from one of the boss-level True Souls (like one of the goblin leaders). That triggers the conversation with the Dream Visitor where she talks you into embracing your potential and starts the quest of that name. At that point, the Illithid Powers skill tree unlocks.

The only way Rath would have turned against you would be if you just simply attacked Kagha without outting her, OR if you had stolen the idol of Sylvanus.

@RetroRaconteur Did you also reduce her strength? With STR 10 and DEF 14, she's not much of a melee fighter. But that's okay, I guess. A good cantrip or two, a few good spells and she doesn't really need melee attacks...

Rage/frenzy lasts for 10 turns if you're going to use it in a fight use it at the start of battle(unless you can't reach an enemy to attack because it will end early if you don't attack).

My dude! I love your play through and please dont feel like im nitpicking, but for the love of the Gods old and new stop wasting your bonus actions on jumping when you can just walk there 😂 Only jump if you are avoiding dangerous surfaces or needing to get to higher ground. Also remember that characters can use items from other characters inventories with their bonus action so dont assume because nothing shows up on the radial menu that no bonus option is available. Sanctuary goes away if you attack so dont cast it unless the person isnt planning on attacking. Warding bond can only be cast on one person at a time and every time that person takes damage, so does Shadowheart or whoever cast it. Barbarians should always be raging in battle, its their thing! Only negative to reckless attacks is that enemy will get advantage on you as well. Retro is a wizard and can barely lift books to read much less shove someone, leave the physical stuff to your fighters, however there are classes and class combos that allow for magic and swordplay but you are never great at either one when combining the two character types. Keep on adventuring! I love seeing your excitement and yes the game is full of stuff like the Kagha arc! Oh even if you dont full read them, pick up and open every book or letter you find, sometimes they trigger journal updates but only if opened. Also books are usually 5 gold a piece so sell sell sell!!

I'm not a 100% certain, but you could probably have left the dialog with the hunter, switched to a character with higher Charisma and/or the Persuasion skill and tried then. I think I've said it before, but you should consider respecing Retro's attributes (through Withers) INT is an absolute must for a Wizard, I'd go with DEX as the second highest attribute, and STR as the lowest. Then prioritize CON (more hit points), WIS (better perception, better mindflayer powers, etc.) and CHA (persuasion, deception, intimidation) as you see fit. There should be a Cantrip or lvl 1 Spell that grants advantage on persuasion, too. And if you have a second source for Guidance, you could aways equip Shadowheart's boost attribute spell to gain advantage on a stick. But just a few thoughts, as always, you do you! 😊

Nice episode as always! You missed the chest in Priestess Gut chambers (across the bed), which has something very very cool inside! An you can lockpick the locked lever in the room you just found. Also, some extra fighting tips if you don't mind: 1. You don't need to be casting Sanctuary all the time. It can save you some times for sure, especially if a character is hurt, but it takes a spell slot and breaks as soon as you attacked. You even cast Sanctuary and then attcked with Shadowheart on the same turn during the Ogre's fight. 2. As much as jumping take your further, like others have pointed out, it also costs your Bonus Action, which depending on the character, could be used for something else. Karlach for example, wants to Rage (preferably in the beginning of the combat) if she's close enough to the enemies. Raging lets you gain 3 benefits with her - You take half damage from physical attacks, deal an extra 2 dmg (more at higher lvls) with your own attacks, and can use your following Bonus Actions to attack again! 3. Levelled spells are there to be used. Don't be afraid to cast thing like scroching ray and yoour beloved Magic Missile with Retro, or Guiding Light and Inflict Wounds and the such with Shadowheart. These are the big dmg spells and you'll get even better at higher lvls. But when the enemy is low on health, you might want to use cantrips to save up spell slots. On the other hand, use those spells when their HP is near full to being them down quicker. 4. The min damage of your Maggic Missle that you checked was for all 3 darts you can throw with a lvl 1 spellslot. Each missile hits for 1 + 1d4. So 3 would hit for 3 + 3d4. Which makes it a total of 6-15 dmg.

Be careful with respeccing. I can't remember about the player character, but your NPC party will keep their original class tag even after respect so at least to some extent the story will always see them as what they started off.

The Underdark is Act 2, so I'd make sure to tie up any loose ends before heading there. Also well done for taking out Priestess Gutt without setting the entire goblin army off 😂 that took me so many playthroughs to figure out. You're smashing it. 🎉

Underdark is still Act 1, and so is the Monastery. Even tho going through the Mountain Pass early ends some quests, you can explore the underdark at any point in act 1 and you won't miss out on anything, actually.

These Hellrider's Pride gauntlets look pretty tasty, because resistance against something (not to be confused with the spell Resistance) is really, really good. What bothers me is the lack of a duration. Is it one turn? Ten turns? Until long rest? Oh, also, Karlach already gets those simply from raging, I believe. Edit: apparently the duration is two turns, same as casting a Blade Ward.
