Dad reacts to BTS - "Permission to Dance" performed at the United Nations (Dads First Reactions)

I forget. Have you heard RM's speech at the General Assembly? It was the first time BTS spoke there out of 3 times. They are the only group given permission to film an MV at the UN. And yes, the backup dancers "in the park" were specifically chosen. The park was actually still on the secured grounds of the UN. I saw a video of one of the girls chosen to headline a backup dancer. They all got personal calls and were invited to dance. No emails. Nothing in print so nothing could be traced. No one had to audition. They had all been identified as already knowing how to dance. Professional experiences dancers. But not all of them made it. They had be "Lilly White". They did background checks because they had to pass a World Wide security clearance because they would be at the UN. So. No convictions. No drugs. No DUI's. No weapon charges. They checked their social media. No racial or political slurs. They checked everything. Then, they had to be healthy. Pass covid checks. And then they had to get photos for official UN I.D.'s. Whew. A lot to go through!!! But those that made it!! Woo-hoo. They could put that on their resume forever! They did a Behind the Scenes. And at the end, they cheered and clapped and shouted BTS!!! BTS!!! I'm so glad you watched it.

Yes eactly and it was filmed in the early morning hours before there was much happening at the U.N. The guys had just come in from S.K. and did not have time to rest before filming the video.

Hi dear. 69yo ARMY here. They are a global phenomenom. What could be more fitting than the United Nations? BTS partnered with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in 2017. Since then BTS and ARMY have donated 6.6 million dollars to UNICEF. A percentage of BTS's income goes directly to UNICEF.

They said this was one of the hardest things, simply because of the space. The desks, chairs in the back, etc. couldn't be moved, so it was SUPER tricky to figure out how far they had to go to be out of a specific shot, which row they'd have to come back in from, etc. Being out on the lawn allowed for a much more comfortable shoot, of course. It was filmed in parts. Live, as usual for them, but in parts. The inside, if I remember correctly, was done at 5 or 6 AM. BTS has the pull, but not QUITE enough pull to halt all plans for the day in the building, so...yeah...they had to work around various schedules and such. I think this is my fav. performance of this song, though. Hectic as it was for them.

The funny thing about that is they flew all the way there, got off the plane and went to record that. They were so tired how they managed to do it with all that energy is beyond me

BTS was invited To the UN two times. The first time R M made a beautiful speech. The second time all 7 BTS members Made a speech and on that same day that’s when they dance to the music you don’t need permission to dance BTS are so good

V has been doing sign language for years so when they did the music video for Permission to Dance, the sign language interpreters smiled when they didn’t have to translate the parts. The hearing impaired children got excited when they saw the members signing as well ❤❤.

what a happy song, a happy place, a happy vibe. the United Nations headquarters has always been an intimidating structure for me, because of what it represents. different nations in the world come together united in respect and humanitarian goals. Can you imagine if BTS ruled the UN, if they really did rule the world? We'd really be in Utopia. "Na na na na na na coz we don't need permission to dance." BTS' music transcends the airwaves of Earth, their remarkable talent and respect and love can be felt universally. I always laugh right at the very beginning when Joonie jumps down off the podium and wonder how many times he was responsible for them having to redo the shoot because we all know he would definitely have fallen a few times hahahaha.... apparently there was a problem getting the 7 doors to close at exactly the same time so that was a thing for a minute.... nobody does it like BTS...

Here is the link to the video of BTS's first speech (yes, there are more!) at the United Nation's General Assembly in 2019. It has full English subs. Of course, since RM (Namjoon) is the only member who is fluent in English, he's actually the one giving the speech. When I watched this I was SO FREAKING PROUD of him that I thought my heart would explode! He wrote this speech completely by himself, and after ARMY saw how polished and mature he was when he spoke, we had the hashtags #KimNamjoonForPresident and #PresidentNamjoon trending for quite some time. I would really love to see you react to this video because you'll get a glimpse of the humanitarian activities that the group participates in.
