Great reaction as always! TLOP is my favorite Ye album and I totally understand why it may not be appealing musically to a lot of peoples but I feel like once you understand the concept and what each song is trying to convey through the music your appreciation for it goes up tenfold, because the way Ye conveys meaning through the sound and composition of the music on this album is just creativity at its peak

The whole albums theme is choosing between Religious good, and being famous and drugs and stuff. In the album cover, the two photos confirm that, along with the "Which one" text under it.

Excuse me this will be long winded but not enough Kanye fans realize his entire discography is a cohesive narrative but specifically from Pinocchio Story on 808s through Violent Crimes on Ye. On Pinocchio story Kanye sings about how he chased the American dream of being a superstar but now his mom is dead and his first fiancé Alexis Phifer left him in the same year and he feels hollow. “I just want to be a REAL boy” What’s the opposite of real? A Dark Twisted FANTASY On the intro Nicki Minaj in a fake British accent says “twisted FICTION sick addiction “ On the 3rd song Power Kanye says REALITY is catching up with me , taking my inner CHILD I’m fight for custody” and later “this would be a BEAUTIFUL DEATH jumping out the window letting everything go” So it’s the death of the “old Kanye” and All of the Lights begins the Fantasy he has of living in the celebrity world of flashing lights , getting in trouble, having a daughter and divorce with custody battles. So the album is him lost in that celebrity lifestyle and on last song Lost in the World it’s a poem he wrote to Kim before they got together and he feels lost in the world. So from there because he’s lost in the world and with “the old Kanye” now dead he creates an alter ego Yeezus which is an over the top egotistical, sex addicted maniac basically and by the song Blood on the Leaves you find out this sex addicted shell of the old Kanye became this way because of a failed relationship “we could’ve been somebody” On the last song Bound 2 gets with Kim and talks about wanting to marry her but still is speaking from the character of Yeezus with crude sexual language. The Life of Pablo’s theme is explained on the front cover , a picture of an IG model representing his addiction to attention seeking, sex, fame, ego and celebrity which is next to a picture of a family in front of a church at a wedding representing his desire to live a wholesome family life and follow the word of God and all over the cover it says “which one” because he’s still conflicted, that’s why the album switches between religious themes and love then very superficial things like money , fame and sex. The album opens with Ultralight Beam “a God DREAM” and after that there’s a bunch of songs about his addictions to the lifestyle until I Love Kanye , where he misses “the old Kanye” before the fantasy. On the last song Sampha sings “where is God in your night life” The conclusion of the thread of the Fantasy trying to be a “real boy” is on the album Ye. The album is supposed to express the reality of Kanye’s bipolar nature. The cover says “I hate being bipolar it’s awesome “ The first song I thought about KILLING You is about Kanye trying to metaphorically finally kill the other side of himself. In spoken word he says “most BEAUTIFUL thoughts are always beside the DARKEST” (My BEAUTIFUL DARK Twisted Fantasy) The 2nd to last song Ghost Town (Ghost-are DEAD) he wanted to kill the old version of himself, the end of the song repeats “I put my hand on a stove to see if I still bleed and nothing hurts anymore I feel kind of free” Meaning to become free Kanye couldn’t just kill the old version of himself because that is himself he had to accept the darkest sides of him self (put his hand on the stove) to feel free and like a kid again aka A REAL BOY like Pinocchio wanted to be.(Shake sings “once again I am child” The last song the closes the 5 album narrative is Violent Crimes. Ye raps about how he used to be a savage and a monster but now he has a daughter and has to leave that life/version of himself behind. The chorus says “REALITY is upon us colors dripping off” This lyric is a reference to one of Kanye’s favorite movies The Holy Mountain about a group of false prophets trying to find salvation on the Holy Mountain but at the end of the movie you find out the you’re watching a movie inside of a movie and nothing was real. Kanye used to play this movie on repeat during the making of Dark Twisted Fantasy on mute in the background and on the Yeezus tour he had a mountain on stage. Guess who closes the song , Nicki Minaj , and instead of fake British accent like on Dark Fantasy intro , this outro is a voice mail of her not performed in her real voice that she left for Ye in real life. Last note , the name Kanye means “only one” the name his mom gave him and a song he sings from his mom’s perspective speaking through Kanye to his daughter North. Ye is most used word in the Bible and refers to “you” or everyone. On the Yeezus tour Kanye said Yeezus meant Ye ez(is) Us. Only one refers to only Kanye(Ego) and Ye is you. Most beautiful thoughts are always inside/beside the darkest. Ye explained in an interview with Big Boi in Wyoming before the album that the album was called Ye because he was representing the different sides of humanity are all in 1, the good, the bad , the dark the beautiful etc Yeezus, Pablo and Ye is the identity trilogy because he lost himself in the Dark Twisted Fantasy of fame and addiction and the albums all together are the journey of finding himself again after feeling lost in a Fantasy/Pinocchio Story that he just wanted to be a real boy after his mom dies. Reality is upon us , colors dripping off.

Knowing how much of art buff kanye is, from painting, architecture, fashion, films, multi media, music and more i wouldn’t doubt this idea, artists loves their intentional subtle details with their works. His arts are an extension of himself. Its hard to live as one of the biggest names in the history while having big personal problems and there’s a good reason why he wants to escape his fame even though he is obsessed with it. It’s like an addiction.

Ok the famous line about Taylor: pretty sure the transcript of the call leaked a few years ago and it shows that what Taylor is talking about being ok with is the “I feel like Taylor might owe me sex” line and that she didn’t know he was gonna claim making her famous and she had a pretty cutting award show speech that week or the week after throwing shade at the idea someone would claim they got you to where you worked for. She got pushback on that because ppl believe at the time she OK’d it then was playing it for clout after but pretty sure she’s been vindicated that she never knew about the “made that bitch famous” line and seems like she was really never a fan.

In the phone call Kanye does say that he’s also going to say he made her Famous in the song the only part he leaves out is the specific line with the B word . Kanye is known for rewriting the same line multiple times in different ways to try to find the specific reaction he’s looking for or meaning he wants so it’s unclear if he was purposely not telling her the B word part or he decided to use that word later. In Kanye’s defense before that conversation he has said the b word in hip hop is like the n word , not to be taken in the most derogatory way so he may have thought it wasn’t a big deal. Also they did discuss in the conversation the line was meant as a joke or tongue in cheek not malicious or literal so the B word doesn’t change that. Lastly Kim released the phone call after Taylor said she wasn’t told which made it sound like they didn’t even have a conversation about it and because Kanye says Taylor and not Taylor Swift he didn’t really have any obligation to tell her anyway so Kanye fans saw it as Taylor getting into semantics to play the victim when it wasn’t that serious of a line in the first place. I can understand both sides tbh

As a swiftie and a fan of Kanye’s discography (and Kanye’s discography only) imma explain basically the Famous thing, if you don’t like taylor swift, at least keep an open mind because Ye and KKW almost ended Taylor’s career and truly, they don’t even care. During the process of creating TLOP, Kanye called Taylor asking for her consent to release Famous with the lyric “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex”. At first, Taylor said she would think about because it was a bit shocking, but Kanye convinced her and she gave him her blessing. When the song was released, Taylor went to her social media (I guess it was twitter), and she said that she wasn’t aware Kanye would call her a bitch and wasn’t aware either of the line “I made that bitch famous”. It might seem harmless but due to the happenings of the VMA, let’s say if you’re gonna cut that deep you could’ve at least let Taylor know. Kim K went on social media as well to call Taylor swift a liar, telling everyone Taylor was playing the victim. Taylor clapped back and then Kim posted on her Snapchat a video she recorded of Kanye talking to Taylor on the phone. Taylor responded saying that they took the video out of context and that Kim and Kanye both knew that. The media bought Kim’s version (lmao) of it all and went on a misogynistic spiral against Taylor swift calling her the worst things ever, making the hashtag #taylorswiftisoverparty become the top trending topic worldwide in 2016. Taylor kinda let the whole thing pass, Kim as well, even though Taylor’s prestige and career wasn’t the same. Fast forward to the beginning of 2020, someone we don’t know (I have my guess) leaked a full unedited version of the Kanye and Taylor call, that video not only shows that Taylor was really unaware of that line, but showed as well that Kanye wasn’t going to show her anyway. Now the 4 years later, the public and the media saw that Taylor Swift was telling the truth the whole time. In my personal opinion, it was a really not a big of a deal the situation itself, but it became a huge deal and almost destroyed a woman’s career, a woman’s that in her own words always asked to be “excluded from this narrative”. I wanna end this saying that I don’t come from a mind of fanaticism, I like Kanye’s career, and I think he’s a visionary artist. I like not only Taylor’s discography but the image she present to us, I admire her talent, her lyricism, her voice and her strength a lot. I consider myself I swiftie but I am aware of how toxic the swiftie community can be at times. I am also aware that those who admire and keep defending Kanye are nothing but a**holes, because even though I don’t agree or believe in worshipping an artist and I don’t worship Taylor even with my biggest admiration towards her and I definitely don’t worship or support Kanye, I’ll never put swifties and Kanye fans in the same position, because one fanbase being toxic IS NOTHING compared to one fanbase being blind towards fascism support.

Freestyle 4 was not produced by Kanye. He just freestyled on it hence the name. It was a song by Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky called WHAT THE FUCK RIGHT NOW which was supposed to be in a collab album (WANG$AP) they were supposed to drop.

The whole Taylor and Kanye thing isn’t even that the line was offensive. It’s that AFTER the song came out Kanye and Kim wanted to make themselves look better and made Taylor out to be a liar. Could care less that he mentioned her and as she said in I did something bad “if he drops my name then I owe him nothing, and if he spends my change then he had it coming” he knew dropping Taylor’s name would get him more streams and make him more talked about at the end of the day

as a swiftie, i feel the need to inform you on the history of the "Famous" situation. Kanye called Taylor up and said "Hey, can I put your name in my song?". She said it was fine and even thanked him for calling her and said it was so nice of him. He NEVER mentioned he was going to call her a bitch. SHE NEVER AGREED TO THAT. Taylor says that she never agreed to that. Kim Kardashian said that Taylor knew all along and that she's a liar and a snake. Kim posted a snapchat video of the phone call Kanye and Taylor had, BUT it was edited, someone had leaked the REAL footage of that phone call. This sitiation led everyone to hating Taylor and calling her a snake, There was a twitter hashtag that went viral, #taylorswiftoverparty, and EVERYONE was using it. Taylor usually releases albums every two years. She released 1989 in 2014, so when 2016 rolls around, everyone is like "where's the next album?" She basically went into hiding, like the public didn't physically see her for A YEAR. All of this lead to Taylor releasing "reputation" her sixth studio album. In the song "I Did Something Bad" she says "If a man talks shit then I owe him nothing.", referring to him calling her a bitch in "Famous". In another song on the album, "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" she says "And therein lies the issue, friends don't try to trick, get you on the phone and mind twist you." Also referring to the phone call.

Seems like another case of making media buzz for kanye and swift if kanye never steps up for the truth, knowing that Famous is a conscious decision of commentary about fame and what comes with obsession of fame culture and the downsides of fame like everybody viewing you negative which is isolation, that bitch line was probably a shock value line which was definitely not harmless to taylor and it is ironic that kanye made her feel isolated and attacked because of the media mob. Kanye has played his part on making her famous which is what is happening right now and taylor seems to agree, we love talking about them and their feuds and kanye is hugging that concept because he is the epitome of fame.

You have to consider the connotation of the word "bitch" in rap. Also, if I already called you to ask you for permission for a line and then I come up with another one I probably will assume I have your permission already.
