ice cream man is such a perfect encapsulation of how the aftermath of that experience feels, and what is unfortunately one of the most universal and defining experiences of womanhood. the anger, humiliation, self-blame, the grief of the person you were before it happened to you, and the realisation that you cannot, will not, let a man break you. i think many women feel very seen by that song, i’m so glad she released it

Seeing RAYE perform live was honestly the greatest concert I’ve ever experienced. Not only are her vocals AMAZING, and she switches up every song slightly each time it’s sung live- the energy and Stage Presence she has is simply magnetic. Loved the reaction!! I saw Raye live back in 2019 before she blew up and I've loved her ever since so I am so happy you guys finally listened to this! It's one of my favorite albums ever for soo many reasons. One of the main ones is that I have never related more and heard someone put my feelings into words as well as she did in ice cream man. I cry almost everytime I listen to it bc she makes me feel like a brave strong woman too and you have no idea how much that means to people who have been thrugh stuff like that. The lyrics "And no, I didn't say a word, I guess that proves it I'm a woman" , "If I was ruthless, they'd be in the penitentiary But all the stress of being honest wouldn't help me" and "You made me frame myself for your sins You pathetic, dead excuse of a man" are lyrics I have never related to more and no one has ever put it into words better than her. I also really recommend watching her "raye live at royal albert hall" bc omg full body chills the entire time bc that womans voice is just so incredible and she has an entire orchestra with her. During Body Dysmorphia. she also undresses to show that it's ok to have curves and not be super skinny and all of that and it literally made me cry first time I saw it bc of how brave it was so I 100% recommend you guys check that out.
