I got to see Snoop Dogg , Kurupt, Daz, Nate Dogg, lady of rage and a few others in small club in Knoxville back in the mid 2000’s . I had to work a 12 hr shift at 7am, concert didn’t start til 8pm the night before. I went had the best time of my life with Cylk Cozart and a few other buddies and left around 4am. Went to work still mind drunk but was one of the best nights of my life. Snoop Dogg really tried to sneak in the back door being 6’5 in an all yellow jumpsuit. Me and Cylk and David all saw him and started the jumping, then the Gin & Juice beat came on. One of the highlights of my life

Easily one of the best albums of all time!.. For my prom in 2005, we rented a school bus (cheese bus), and we taped aluminum foil to the rims. Right b4 we left, the bus driver said he had a cassette player, i ran upstairs n grabbed THIS cassette, "Doggystyle", N listened to it the whole ride.. He even let us smoke joints on the back of the bus, shit was crazy. Great times. This album is the best nostalgia for me

Great reaction. My suggestion is Ice Cube "Amerikkkas Most Wanted". One small correction. The West Coast had Hip-Hop on lock in terms of record sales from 1990-1994. The Chronic was released in December of '92. Nas, Biggie and Wu-Tang didn't come out until 94. They're movements brought the East Coast back. Biggie makes a couple of subtle references to that at the beginning of Ready to Die. Kurupt is originally from Philly and that's what influenced his flow. Lady of Rage was set to come out until 2Pac signed to Death Row. Everyone's release date was pushed back and a lot of tracks that belonged to other artists on the label were given to 2Pac for his albums. After he died and Suge went to jail the first time, Death Row fell off taking Lady of Rage's career down with it. The last song has a little irony to it as well. Sam Sneed was also a Death Row artist. Allegedly he was later beat up by Suge and his associates in Suge's office. Then he was forced to attend a Death Row party a few hours later.
@HStalhane

Snoop actually noticed Bow Wow in '93 at the age of 6 at a talent show in LA. He went by the name Kid Gangsta out of his love for NWA, Snoop nicknamed him Lil Bow Wow and took him under his wing. He later felt the atmosphere at Death Row wasn't where he needed to be and introduced him to Jermaine Dupri.

Was actually supposed to be Death Row tradition to have the next artist up be on the intro. Snoop was on The Chronic intro and his album came next. Rage was on Doggystyle intro and her debut album Dre planned to do next in 94 called Eargasms. But Suge fucked everything up in 94 and made Death Row do Above the Rim soundtrack and Murder was the case soundtrack. Rage did have the hit single Afro Puffs on above the rim. But 95 Dogg Pound album came instead again from Suges decision. And Oct 95 Pac got bailed outta jail, did the California Love video and All Eyez on Me dropped in Feb 96. There was so much excitement for Pac all the work went into his album and even Dogg Pound album released Oct 95 was bad timing, they didn't even tour cus it was all about Pac from there on. He died in September 96 and death row died with him. Dre was gone. Suge in jail. And Rage album came out in 97 with no Dre production and nobody cared by then. Sad.

Y'all gotta do The D.O.C.'s album "No One Can Do It Better"! Before Dre found Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick or Anderson... The D.O.C. was the Doctor's first protégé (unless you want to include Eazy-E)! Before his tragic car accident that took out his voice, he was one of the best rappers to be endorsed by Dr. Dre. He helped write songs for NWA while making his own debut. After the accident, he remained solid with Dre and actually put him on to Suge Knight so that he could leave Ruthless Records and start Death Row Records. He was helping Dre and Snoop formulate their rhymes on "The Chronic", Snoop namely credits The D.O.C. for helping with the hook to "Nuthin' But A G Thang" The album itself is damn near before its time. The beats from Dre definitely have a post-NWA/pre-Chronic vibe but the rugged yet smooth voice along the rhymes is very groundbreaking or dare I say "Mind Blowin'" so much to the point where Em had to ask D.O.C. on his own documentary what did he say on one record because he said it so fast yet so fluently. Trust me, this is one album that you two will definitely enjoy!

Lodi Dodi is referencing La-Di-Da-Di from Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh. Living in Long Beach when this Album came out was crazy. I was only in elementary school but remember hearing The Chronic coming out of everyone’s car and house. Speaker for legit a year to hearing this album everywhere. You couldn’t go anywhere in the city without hearing one of these two albums. From like 1991-1995 You could legit go months without hearing any east coast rap music if you lived in the LA/Long Beach cus All of Death Row, DJ Quik, Eazy E and a few others dominated the radio. The only time you would here non west coast rap on the radio was Bone, Ghetto Boys, Wutang, Tribe, Nas and Biggie.
