Hear, hear! After one of my close friends and I graduated college, we rented an apartment together, and quickly decided that we didn't want to eat like typical bachelors, so we started working on our cooking skills. We picked up cookbooks and recipes from here, there and everywhere, and got pretty creative in the kitchen. We baked, too. It was a healthy decision, and also good for our budget, since neither of us was making a whole lot of money. It was also a great way to get women... to come over and eat. Well, ok, it was a good way to MEET women, which we certainly enjoyed. And since we had women coming over, and neither of us wanted to live in a pigsty anyway, we kept the place nice and clean, too. I wouldn't say our wives married us for our housekeeping skills, but they were definitely points in our favor. I actually taught my wife to cook; she didn't know how to make much more than pasta and popcorn when I first met her. Nowadays, she's the better cook and prepares most of the meals, but I handle most of the cleaning (including kitchen cleanup after she cooks). For this Thanksgiving, she whipped up the turkey and the usual trimmings, but I baked the bread. I also literally took the broom away from her when she started to sweep, and proceeded to scrub the place spotless. We make a great team!
