Our family were a Packard/ Studebaker /Ford mix. My dad was an enthusiast drag racer in the 50s who became a family man and a post Korean War Union truck driver. We had many years of fun around his hobby and everything we learned about mechanics came from his shared passion. He kept our whole family in cars. None of us ever were able to repay him in a manner you did here for your Father. You did something truly wonderful. That Healey is beautiful.

Most people take for granted the sacrifices our parents make for us, especially as a child. This was a beautiful way of repaying your Dad for one of his sacrifices. You are a wonderful son and I'm sure he is very proud of you.

MY dream car. An Austin Healey 3000, British racing green, brown/;-tan interior. Had fantasies of winning rallies and enjoying winding roads in the country side. I'm an antique now, but still dream of the " 3000"
@craigm55112 жыл бұрын
Robert, the paint and trim you mentioned will always stand out as a beautiful combination! Whilst very few will have the opportunity to pilot a 3000 to any rally wins, hopefully you can get in touch with a local Austin-Healey club and see if you can arrange a ride in one through those winding roads you're dreaming about! Best wishes.
@robertspeicher50472 жыл бұрын
@@craigm5511 They don't hold rallies any more or not like they use to. But just driving, not so much racing, but just the thrill of carving curves, shifting into a curve or corner. Using the shift smoothly, etc. Lasrly, the wind and the sound of a smooth running engine. I owned, for a short time, an 1100 Fiat. Imagination, i was driving an Italian racer. I've grown up since then

Man... that's some garage you have. Awesome that you were able to find your dad's car again and get it for him. I can't imagine even thinking about selling a beloved car that you put work into to give the kids a pool (of course that's why I don't have kids yet).

I wish I could find my dad's Datsun 510 and buy it back for him, but as I can remember looking through the floors when I was eight, this is very unlikely to ever happen. First car I drove as a child. Straight into a hedge as I couldn't see over the dash.

In 1982 I had a 1972 Fiat spider that I loved, and wooed my wife with. We would drive with the top down, and I would play with her curly long hair trailing in the wind. In 1983 I went to basic training at fort Jackson. Our first daughter was born while I was away, and some one stripped my car where I had it parked. I had been paying a fellow to park it there, and watch it for me. It was towed away before I came home, and I never saw it again.

My grandpa used to own a Austin healey when he met my grandma and after he married her, he sold the car and said to me that he wished he never sold it, he sold it to a friend of his then that friend sold it to two other friends who lived up on the mountains, he said that they were stupid with it and stuck a V8 in the car, the cars tires didn’t agree on that, they were driving it and they crashed it into a ditch... sad

Why the f*@k are you driving it ? If its dad's car why didn't you insist he drive it ? Not cool. Just wondering you go through all the time and things you did to get the car and he doesn't drive it. That's a let down, for the people viewing video. It's like you're not trusting your own father to drive his birthday present. Did you take it back after camera was off? It's like here dad it's your car, but you can't drive it, I'm such a good son right? Give me approval or you don't get the car, as a matter of fact I don't think you can drive it yet until I show you how so sit in the seat beside me and watch me. Lmao
