My horse likes to run out on the first XC jump in schooling (never in events) even if it’s just an 18” fence. I have a friend who’s a 5* even term and she says that her horse does it too. Just curious if you have any tips on trying to prevent that from happening. Do any of your horses do that? Love ur vids!❤️😘

My experience is many horses that are used to jumping big dont do very well on the tiny jumps. They dont bother putting any effort in, dont try and judge the distance, and barely pick up their feet, if at all. Unless you spend a ton of extra time in training/practice working over lots of trotting poles & small x poles. Which is more helpful for dressage work & bending. But I think you have to decide where your priorities & focus lays based on what you're looking to achieve. I didn't mind that my best jumper didn't do small jumps well, because everything always came together on the large jumps and he jumped them perfectly & consistently. And that's the real goal for your best most prized & beloved jumpers, right?
