Something that's a really good exercise to do after this is texture gradient so you draw the texture going from black to white. Then you use the texture to shade shapes like cubes and spheres.

it's possible to use only one pencil, but of course you'll get a better result if you use these tools: HB pencil, 5B pencil, a stump for blending.
