Colaz it is not a novelty for people to use the fresh coconuts in 'foreign'. In some supermarkets one can purchase the coconut and have the produce department chop it open for them to go home and grate it if they do desire. Coconut trees are plentiful in South Florida and people have access to them. It is also imported to areas where there is a large Caribbean population. Some people abroad have the option to use canned coconut milk or the real thing. It's so good to have choices. 😊
