When I finally moved to NYC at 27 (after a 13-year old me declared that I would do so one day), what surprised me right away was how friendly people were; the stereotypical NYer is not a mean person... just a straight-forward honest one. NYC changed my life in all the best ways and in every way. I had many a cab ride where I had conversations with wise drivers who ensured I got home safe while sharing some life-lessons along the way and I took to heart. I cannot wait to see this film! And I love that Christy Hall is from Oklahoma. I'm from a small town in South Texas.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Oscar Worthy! Sean Penn brings it to life his character as only few actors can! Dakota Johnson holds her own in this incredible two person dialogue. All aspects of this film -the Writing, directing, photography, costumes, make-up, sound production and perfect film score bring the audience an unpredictable story at the highest level of film making. BRAVA AND BROVO🙌🎥🎬

I just saw this movie and I really loved it.. I loved how there was no agenda, no preaching.. just two characters connecting; exploring their humanity in a non-judgmental and open way. Loved it.

This kind of connection and conversation doesn’r happen very often! Do you think Carl/Mikey will drive by her house hoping to meet her again??? Will they have a future in common after this long night conversation?? I hope so.....maybe in the next episode Christy Hall will write! It could be the first episode of a series.....simple and truthful....i loves it♥️👍🇫🇷🌈

one of my favourite movies in 2024 so far.. so many different layers to it!!! great work & performances
@nannifilippone356719 күн бұрын
Agree about the number of different layers! Despite the clear description of this wonderful director and writer, she did non have the time probably to discuss about the magic of disclosing our intimate life to a stranger, and receiving the same treatment, because we both know the relation has no future...

I like the movie. Refreshing to put it simply. There were times I thought Penn's character was too vulgar and too focused on a stranger's sexuality. Blame it on the script. But it was nice
@officialgrhymz89573 ай бұрын
It's the lines where he talks about the reason he wants to go to Japan. Sticks out like a sore thumb as something a man over a certain age would just NEVER come out with. In fact I think if he did have such a predilection for such things he'd be quite ashamed. The only point in the film where it's obvious it's written by a woman who thinks she knows what men are like when in actual fact it's a massive misfire. Old pervy Japenese office workers maybe go for that not a worldly wise taxi driver with lots of experience with women.

I know what u mean. Did it seam almost predator like in its delivery?
@gaddaitherage82043 ай бұрын
I really commend her writing to include things that the strong modern independent woman will find repulsive (and girlie does show some reaction) but doesn’t try to one up the idea in the end. There are threads that are left unresolved and I find that realistic.

This is a great interview with Christy. The movie was mesmerizing. Really enjoyed it. Could not have picked 2 better actors. Enjoyed the script. Would've liked to NOT hear ANY "F" Bombs anywhere in the movie. They distracted from the message and were totally unnecessary. The script would have been more powerful without them & may turn off some viewers.
@TonyVega1235 ай бұрын
Yeah, I thought the movie would have been so much better if Penn's character had been less vulgar. He really came off as super creepy with all his sex talk. I'm not prudish in the least, but there is a time and a place
@TonyVega1235 ай бұрын
I thought this movie had so much potential to be great, but Sean Penn's character was way too vulgar to be taken seriously. He came off super creepy at times. I can not believe I am saying that because I'm the least prudish person you could ever meet, but there is a time and a place. Some will say this added to his humanity, but it did the opposite for me.
@sunyata1505 ай бұрын
I didn't think it had potential to be great. But I thought it had potential to be better. I watched it when I wanted something simple and dirty, and give it a 2/5. It mostly seemed like the script was built off a couple observations which were turned into generalizations. I thought Penn's character was interesting, but mostly just served the function of focusing on a pretty young blonde girl's sex life. I didn't get the sense of who either of them were or what they wanted. *shrug*. Have you seen My Dinner with Andre?
@officialgrhymz89573 ай бұрын
Yep-i expanded on this in another comment which I think has been removed but basically I thought when he talked about his reason for wanting to visit Japan in particular it was very jarring and not something you'd expect a man of his age ever to come out with.

No political agenda? You aren't bashing the male? Very interesting
@milenskiNY7 ай бұрын
good effort, but surely too sugar-coated for the reality what NYC and yellow cabs are today. 20-25 years ago I certainly was able to talk to the taxi driver, sometimes having a good meaningful good convo. Nowadays, drivers are all on their phones, and any effort to engage them ends with being ignored or just silently handed a bottle of water. Decent nostalgic attempt, I'll give a try watching
@essbeep6 ай бұрын
Being a NYer this movie was silly. NYers do talk to anyone so nothing new there, and the inner child stuff is about 30 years behind the times, that was an 80s thing,
