Haha speaking of time passing, I had to actually go look up if this was on my request list or not. You're spot on tho, just a good timeless fun track, with a video that is a window back to another time. Song was actually created to start a dance trend, and what it ended up doing was creating a trend where participants would all drop their pants at the start of the song and dance with them around their ankles. Called it the 'Eagle Drop'. Anyway, cheers

....Daddy Cool played at my school in 1971 at lunch time. I didn't have any money so I couldn't get in the gym to watch the concert, but could hear them pretty good outside. Eagle Rock was a blast.

Eagle Rock is based on the Wedge Tail Eagle ...It's our biggest raptor and they have a distinctive almost dance when they're on the ground feeding on carrion (dead animals) .. They get so heavy feeding that they have to dance around to get airborne again ...GREAT SONG...

The other weird part about this song is that in Australia it re-entered the charts 10 years after it was released and I think went to No1 again in the early 1980s in Melbourne Australia.. Amazing really.

Welcome to the Australia I grew up in. I was only 7 when this came out, but by the time I started sneaking out, nearly every band I saw played this song, a well known classic.

I actually saw this band in 1971 and to this day one of the funnest shows I've ever been to. These guys were enormous in Australia.

I was 9 when this was out, and loved it. We thought it hilarious the fox tail hanging out of his pants. Foxtails were quite the accessory on the old FJ Holdens (like the one in the clip) hanging off the antenna.

Ross Wilson what a legend. After Daddy Cool broke up. He started another band Mondo Rock, and then after that, he went into producing. I had to laugh when my kids were small and watching the Wiggles and whe Wiggles had character King Mondo who was Ross Wilson.

Just about anything Australian had always been that way to the rest of the world, underrated and under estimated, but more so by Australians, until the 80's.

Ross Wilson is another Aussie legend as was Daddy Cool! Daddy Cool were classically trained musos with a good sense of humour and and a good sense of rock that’s probably more apparent in their other work. We had to learn to jive to this at school even then it was and oldie but a goodie.

It was an instant hit, meaningless, really, full of the Ozzie sense of humour. Every generation can sing this, and it's one of those songs they roll out at weddings etc and everyone gets up and has fun dancing and singing along!

Yes those hot pants on those girls, had a few pair. Saw Ross and his band perform this in 1971 also, at a Stones Corner, Brisbane cinema. There was a real buzz getting around about the group, so we decided to go and check them out, lots of journos in the audience also. They were huge. Ross wrote it after reading about an African American dance "Eagle Rock" from the late 19th century
