Daddy is a martyr - VPRO documentary - 2008

This documentary is an intimate portrait of the family of Ibrahim Mouazzi, a Hezbollah guerrilla fighter who died in the 2006 Lebanon war. Over the course of a year we follow Ibrahim’s wife, Dalal Mouazzi, as she grapples with the death of her martyred husband. While Dalal is proud of the way Ibrahim died, his loss has left a painful void in her life, and in the lives of her five young children.
The film will show how Hezbollah takes the family under its wing, offering spiritual counseling and social support. Hezbollah views the children of martyrs as ideal future fighters. We witness how the Mouazzi children are socialized by Hezbollah and their community to love and respect the concept of Jihad.
These private moments give unique insight into the lives of members of Hezbollah’s Shiite Muslim community. We see how the Party of God, which is considered a terrorist organization by many Western countries, encourages its supporters to become martyrs by glorifying the concept of Jihad and creating a sense of loyalty by providing social support. Hezbollah’s social programs, which are staffed by well-educated employees, offer some of the best social welfare services in Lebanon and are the essence of Hezbollah’s power.

Thank you very much for this documentary. Human kind is sickness, no matter the place. I am sitiing on chair with a full stomach , watching my screen the horror people going trough. However, their socity seem harsh than most others, those poor little girls who looks downed by shame/guiltyness. I don't know where the truth is, but people need more knowledge.

She is blessed with so nice son,..it is so sad... it must be really difficult for this boy to be surrounded by neverending reminding that father is dead and he is supposed to follow him... he looks like he wants to enjoy the life as any child....the parents should sacrifice for their children but not viceversa
