By the way, since you brought it up early on, the PS3 emulator doesn't have this feature but if the rapid button presses start hurting your hands you can just set up a rapid press command by launching the game(emulator) as non-steam game through steam big picture and using steam input When you're already in a game and using your controller: Shift+Tab, Controller settings, Edit layout. You can probably do it through controller only using PS button in big picture to get to the overlay and do the same way as Steam Deck. Once there, any button you want Cog ⚙, Settings Turn hold to repeat (Turbo) on, Set the delay (Fire start delay) to how long you want to hold the button before it starts auto mashing. You can set it up other ways to use combo of buttons too. But in GOW's case the game never asks you to hold Circle so you set that to rapid press. Circle button prompts are the worst in OG GOW and running prompts in RE4 2005 version is pretty rough on the hands at parts too. I do this now because I have played the game several times and my joints aren't what my 13 year old self used to have. I can still do it but I don't care to. Alternative that is good to know using the PS2 emulator you can set something up in its own emulator settings, but I recommend Steam for most use cases.

I see too often reactors apply modern gaming sense to older games if they're not familiar with them. Don't try to overthink too much with this game. I see what you're thinking when you're analysing the Hydra fight by asking if you need to climb. They didn't think of that back then. It's very simple. See a prompt, go near it, and just press the button. Think in simpler terms when playing these games. Especially since it's a hack 'n' slash game. The game mechanics are fast. There isn't a whole lot of steps to defeating bosses. It's just drain life until the mini game. The game itself really does the rest of the action.

Adding motion controls was a worse idea. They wanted to catch up to Nintendo with their motion sensing controller and devs experimented with it (or were forced to by Sony more likely) and did so in all the worst ways. Fir instance with the six axis controller Naughty Dog used it to control the arc of grenades before you throw them… sounds like a cool idea, on paper, in gameplay it’s a terrible feature that takes too much time and curtails the flow of action. Thankfully they removed this “feature” from the remasters.

The box part had a simple trick to it. The archers shoot where you are going not where you are unless you are still but there is a delay because arrow travel time and animation. Change direction at the right time and they never hit you or the box. Watch the arrows firing for the sixth one and figure out you time between first and sixth. Using the charge to get from behind the bigger boxes when going left or right instead of slow push because slow push makes them shoot the box because it is the direction you are going at the pace you are averaging. Timing the charge so the box is way ahead of your predicted position also works. And the slow push can be used as deception on your part to bait an arrow and do a quick charge push. The arrow will be fired between you and the box. It's just a matter of timing pushes between shots and baiting arrows to the wrong direction. If you figure it out and execute, they never hit you or the box. This takes time to learn though and isn't obvious on the first playthrough for most. The reason I got right away is I played games in that era like Ratchet, Sly, and Jak all of which had the same style AI on delay projectiles that you had to dodge by juking going back three years earlier. If you knew how to not get hit in those games you figure out the box puzzle fast.

On of those was the (original) G4 Network, and on that channel was a video game review show X-Play. After watching a couple of episodes, I noticed that I actually agreed with the majority of their reviews, which doesn't always happen with video game reviews. They had their end of the year awards, and they gave their top 10 of best games for each console. They summed up God of War as "the ass kicking-est game we've ever played." I tried the game, loved it and over time God of War became my favorite game franchise ever. Every game in the franchise is incredible, and I hope you enjoy your playthrough of the franchise too.

Explore before advancing. These games are linear and if miss a chest, you lose it. 5. Kill everything. Orbs = good. More red orbs means you can power up so get it wherever you can. 6. Put the controller down and use your index or middle fingers for the O rapid buttons, it’s quicker than your thumb and you avoid carpel tunnel. 7. Enjoy the game!

At last, the Kratos we knew before

I was quite happy to see you back in my feed. Although Kratos doesn't say Boy often enough.

Now get to see how you handle craziness that is the old games. All the good and the rage. One small piece of advice if you'll allow it. Blocking is better than dodging. 95 percent of attacks can be blocked while dodging is more for certain attacks or for getting distance.

yeah i forgot about blocking and did the entire hydra fight on hard mode

@eralia and going from completely different play styles of 2018 to the original probably doesn't help. But you're slowly getting the hang of it by the looks of it. Keep it up and maybe you'll be ready for elden ring like you joked one time ( I assume you were joking anyway)

I liked your God of War 2018 playthrough, so I'll stick around for the older games and look forward to Ragnarok (assuming I get the chance to play it before your videos)

As someone who grew up playing these games and has always loved them, it's interesring hearing your perspective as someone who started with 2018 haha

Even though this was uploaded ages ago, I keep finding myself wanting to give pieces of advice :') Like you can use lightning before the Hydra bites down to get decent damage, anything off screen is usually a secret, you can talk to the man behind bars at the beginning to get a lil life, also sometimes it pays to not open every chest. This unfortunately is a thing where you need to know the game well, but if you only have a bit of damage but know you'll be coming back to that area later, sometimes it's better to save a chest if you need health/mana more later

It's a shame the game kept breaking, I never completed one of the side games, I think it was Chains maybe? I forget which. Anyway, it's cause the game broke on me and a lever wouldn't pop up after defeating a group of enemies, but reloading a save didn't do anything either, I was kinda deep into the game and I just gave up, which sucked as I was enjoying it until that point, I just couldn't be bothered to restart the entire thing and potentially have the same glitch

Noooooo the mini game :')

I have always found the controls for twisting the stick to be so finicky in the old games. However, yeah, doing the o on the minotaur always gives you health, gorgons give you mana, so sometimes it is better to avoid it so you get the red upgrade orbs :)

Aw one of the most fun things is firing the crossbow at the minotaurs down the hallway!
