Flip the side the parachute is on and put a tip at the front and pack it with explosives, and you have effectively made the MOAB.

I love this partly because I can see a frantic attempt by ground units to splash these things before they can land and deploy. Also, intriguing use of mag plates to absorb impact

@@Alen725 that works great until they get dropped on foot soldiers or a convoy with no turrets. Also, if they have antennae, they could be remote-controlled, which means you drop them from outside turret range and fire in

I hate that i know the hardest part wasn't the decoupling stages, it was the blasted wheel tracks. It is sick as hell, if a bit impractical though. I think you could definitely size down the design

Unfortunately the two parts were merged and the follow cam always defaulted to the largest grid after they separated, but I agree that would have been a sick shot

My god that's sick. Dropping automated gun platforms that EMBED THEMSELVES IN THE GROUND due to their FREEFALL VELOCITY is just so cool

Aww, I wanted to see the shroud parachute down onto the pod and get in its way. Using the parachute to pull it from the plane was quite smart, though. No need for complicated piston pushers or funny flying; just deploy the chute to deploy the pod. They need a way to cut chutes instead of having to wait for movement to stop. That would let you cut it loose after the pod is out and turn on a thruster to push the shroud out of the way of the pod's landing zone. Bonus points if it does extra damage to the enemy base in its fall.

Haha this is cool it reminds me of an idea i had for a future type of warfare where you drop these giant spikes from space, that dig in to the ground from the impact like a dart sticking into a dart board, and then on top are huge turrets with 360 degree view and coverage. They basically have Tank Main Artillery facing down toward the ground, and hundreds of Laser anti-aircraft turrets facing up and outward.

damn that turret makes me remember of the Warhammer machinegunand rocket turrets, they are deployed from orbit, and smashes into the ground, but with rocket boosters, to be more quick at landing, they don't have parachutes to mitigate the fall dmg

A very interesting build, probably a weapon that you would want to target large grid ships though, doesn’t seem to have enough maneuverability to target small grid in actual applications. Maybe try for micro sized missiles with a higher velocity?
