I saw them on TV, on Toppop as a matter of fact, as I was seventeen or eighteen. I then didn't realize it was swinging Gospel. It took me fifty years to fully appreciate the band, the song (the words) and the Gospel. So, my question is: How old am I now... A bar of chocolate for the winning answer.

This Is Possibly My favorite Reggae Band, Though I do Love many other groups and Bob Marley will always be King, I've seen them 4 or 5 times here on the "Big Island" and they are probably the most accomplished group of Musicians and singer, most of them being classically trained and Cat Coore is one of the best guitar players i've ever heard in al genres of music. This song was written by Stevie Wonder for Third World

On this day in 1982 {June 5th} Third World performed "Try Jah Love" on the nationally syndicated television program, 'Soul Train'... The month before on May 2nd, 1982 it reached #47 {for 1 week} on the United Kingdom's Official Top 75 Singles chart and it stayed on the chart for six weeks... And on the same 'Soul Train' episode the band also performed "Dancing On The Floor (Hooked On Love)", exactly one year earlier on June 5th, 1981 the song was in it's first week on the Top 75 Singles chart at position #64, seven weeks later it would peak at #10 {for 2 weeks} and it spent fifteen weeks on the Top 75... The Jamaican reggae band had three other Top 75 records on the U.K. chart; "Now We Found Love"* {#10 in 1978}, "Cool Meditation {#17 in 1979}, and "Talk To Me" {#54 in 1979}... R.I.P. Don Cornelius {1936 - 2012} R.I.P. * "Now We Found Love" was their only record to make Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, it peaked at #47 {for 2 weeks} on March 11th, 1979, and "Now We Found Love" re-entered the U.K. Top 75 chart in 1985, it reached position #22...

KINGSTON, Jamaica --William ‘Bunny Rugs’ Clarke former lead singer of the popular band Third World has died. Clarke who would have turned 66 on Thursday, February 6, had been in intensive care for some time. According to Colin Leslie, a close friend of the singer, Bunny Rugs passed away at 11:00 pm Sunday at his home in Orlando, Florida. He was released from the Intensive Care Unit of an Orlando hospital last week after two weeks of treatment for leukemia. He missed a number of engagements linked with the celebration of Third World’s 40th anniversary last year but it was generally felt that he would have recovered enough to return to Jamaica this month. Clarke was born in Mandeville and replaced ‘Prilly’ Hamiltion as lead singer for the band in 1976. His first album with the band was ‘96 degrees in the Shade’ but is best known for the hits ‘Now that we found Love’ an O’Jays original, and ‘Try Jah Love
