It is losing my dad was hard but when I lost my mom it was the toughest thing I ever went through

Thank you for acknowledging step fathers as fathers. I’m a step mom and I’m told I’m not a mother (even though I’m around A WHOLE LOT more than the kids bio mom), so I tend to believe what I’m told. It makes me happy that you guys acknowledge people like us ❤️.
@booksforbrains66514 жыл бұрын
Bri M Awwww🙁. I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m sure your doing the best you can and for now that’s all you can do. You’ve gotta just be there for the people you care about even if they angry with you. With something like this, it’s maybe a deep fear. A fear of attaching and latching onto someone just to have them leave again. They may not realize it but losing someone like their bio mom may have hurt more than they’d like to admit or flat out say. All you can really do is assure them you won’t leave and be that safety net they really need. Take things slow with them and let them process their emotions, maybe you can sit them down and have a talk with them. There’s an activity that you could do. You could give them each a piece of paper and let them make a triangle and on the bottom write thoughts on one side write feelings and on the final side write behavior. Choose a topic to talk about with them. Start with something they want to talk about and feel more comfortable writing about then move into their bio mom. Have them write down how they feel about the topic then what they think of the situation and lastly how they behave during the situation. Then talk about that, go through it with them and as you do have them write down positive counterparts to what they wrote in all the parts. (It’s pretty hard for me to explain but you could look it up on the internet. My therapist did it with me and although it didn’t work for me it worked for my friends). Also, let them know they don’t have to do it if they don’t want to but it’s a good way to let them process how they feel. Don’t force these types of things on them. Be gentle. I’m 15 so sorry if you don’t feel comfortable with what I told you. I don’t have the best relationship with either of my parents or really any of my family as I kinda lost any trust toward them after what my mom and dad did to me, but this is one of the pieces of advice I could give you.

My grandpa turned 92 in January and he told me on the phone that if he were to pass this year, God forbid, he "could go in peace knowing that his sons and his grandsons have both grown up to be extremely great men that he could be proud of" My father, the mechanic. My uncle, the travel agent. My cousin, the aeronautical engineer. And me, the only one who followed in his footsteps and joined the air force. He told me that day that his proudest day, aside from the birth of his children, was the day I officially became an airman. And I could tell. The day of my graduation he was the first one to reach me, despite his hip, back, and ankle problems. That old Chief Master Sergeant has been the greatest grandpa I could ever ask for

This particular reaction video hits hard for me. My dad is my best friend, really. I'm unfortunately an epileptic, and my first seizure showed me exactly how much he loves me. I came to with my head in his lap and he's red and on the verge of tears. EMTS got to my parent's house and they asked me if I wanted someone with me In the ambulance. I said straight out "My daddy. I want my daddy." From the moment he got into the ambulance with me, never let my hand go until he absolutely had to. Then as I was waiting to be released later that day, he had to go out for something (bathroom maybe, I can't remember) my mom tells me that it was a good thing that I asked for my dad and not her, because he was too emotionally compromised to drive at all. It would have been quite dangerous for him to try to drive with the emotional state he was in at that time. I will always tell him I love you before I leave, either physically leaving from him or ending a phone call, even if I'm mad enough to spit venom i will always say i love you

Our nine-year-old special-needs daughter passed away in August 2014. I can’t believe it’s been six years. It felt like we would never smile again and it felt like life would never be beautiful again. But the sun comes up the next day. No matter how awful the day might be, the sun still comes up in the morning. I promised my daughter that we would live loud and that we would not fade away in our grief. I promised her that we would continue on and I would be the best mom and wife that I could and I would show people love and loving through pain and not giving up. So that’s my goal now. It’s not five of us anymore, it’s four of us. But we can still live loud and love hard and be grateful that we see the sun every morning

Days like this remind me of my dad. I broke contact with my dad 11 years ago. He was not a bad man, never shouted at me or hit me or anything. But emotionally we just did not have any connection. I was never part of his life and he wasnt part of mine. I miss having a dad, I don't really miss my dad. Maybe one day I will try to get in touch again, but right now I'm doing fine without him.

When my mother passed away my grandfather was so distraught that we couldn't understand him when he woke us children up.
