Love have they show that no matter how many kids you have if one has a disability ( I have 5 brothers 1 of which had autism) they show that there has to be a side of lenience/ reasoning as they aren’t actually mentally at there age, hopefully parents see this and stop being so judge mental

Thank you for sharing your story on how you guys started Dad V Girls! It really is inspiring to hear that even though you thought vlogging wouldn't make money, you still did it anyways. I'm so glad you guys did it and so proud of all the success you've guys had!! Well deserved. I'm also grateful for the advice to just go beyond your comfort zone and fears, that there is an amazing life ahead. I really needed to hear this during a tough time, so thank you! ❤ Also, thank you Sarah for being vulnerable and sharing your thoughts and feelings. Understand that hurt people, hurt people. It is never personally. You are an amazing mother and wife, don't ever forget that 🫶❤

33:54 that is horrible!! I feel so bad for sarah she doesn’t deserve that as the kind hearted mother she is to her 5 girls and wife to joel🤍 I hate how people always have something to say!! you are the mother so you know what’s best for your child and yourself! some people are truly just so down in life they have to let it all out of others. sarah, I honestly appreciate all you’ve done for your family and the dvg fam!🥹🤍

I just want to say that Joel, hearing your story about starting Dad v Girls, has been so inspiring to me. I’ve always wanted to start posting on social media but I’ve been so scared to speak on camera. I’m still very much afraid to do that still and also scared to post anything. I’m 17 and I really want to try to be more confident. Hearing you speak about it how you dealt with it, your advice is really appreciated. I love you and your family, your so kind people and you make me feel so safe.

Sarah, I'm sending you the biggest hug and so much love❤. You talking about Sophie when she was little choked me up. You are both such amazing parents, and then with Sophie's need on top of everything, my hat goes off to you! I do my job to help children who have a tough life, and it is so rewarding. I honestly don't get how some people's minds work! If you haven't got anything nice to say, just don't say anything at all! Enjoy Mexico. It's amazing. You have got to go to Coco Bongos for the experience. Out of this world. Xxxx

Sophie's feeding story really got me especially how both of you showed your emotions. I'm 30 now, but around 9 years ago I was put on a feeding tube. And I will never be able to live without one. I was scarily thin and people used to stare. Tell me how sorry they felt for me. Point and laugh. Shout look what she's got on her face- and I had just been made unable to use my uni degree in surgical nursing. I had no confidence in my life. And rumours spread that I had an eating disorder. 7 years ago I had permanent surgical tubes fitted and drainage from my stomach. And it saved me. But seeing the pain you went through- I didn't realise my dad must have been going through similar. I'd wear coats in summer because I couldn't get warm. And I think the hospital visits and the torment from strangers must have been just as horrible for him as me but I didn't think at the time. 😢 So I feel so bad. I have to have surgery 2/3 times a year to change out tubes and do other bits. But my dad is always there to pick me up and have a bed made for me at his house. Sometimes- hearing from a different point of view, brings a whole new set of emotions I didn't know I had. I think Better help really was your perfect sponsor for this pod. Sending you all love 🩷

Broke my heart, I had an experience the other day at a theater by us with my autistic daughter stimming, 3 women in front complained to staff about my daughter and a worker actually told myself and my daughter off, I sat till the end of the performance trying not to cry, I then spoke to a lovely man afterwards who has since emailed me and has handled the situation since amazingly, all because women didn't understand my daughter's happy stims, I wish people would just sometimes realize people are not all the same, and judgment does nothing but hurt the parent 😢❤

I was welling up when you were talking about some of the nasty judgements you’ve received about your parenting with Sophie. I’ve watched your videos since you started KZbin and it is so clear to see what fantastic parents you are to all of your girls. It’s just awful to hear some of the disgusting things people come out with, without understanding the whole picture. As long as you know what a great job you’re doing, that’s all that matters. You’re an inspiration and I hope I can be that great of a parent one day when I have children. (I work with toddlers for a living so I know how tough it can be!) xx

I have two children with many disabilities and special needs. I don’t know if it helps but the chewing is sensory needs, one of my children needs to bite/chew to help feel calm, my child also uses chewelry that you mentioned in the pod, but also if you type chewelery out online you can get all different shapes and sizes so she may prefer a certain type, my child also uses a muslin cloth to chew, mostly when he’s not well or in bed. But wanted to mention you can also get bracelet types to take off and chew etc it’s just trial and error finding what suits them best. Hope that helps a little bit. Also - know exactly what you mean about meeting other parents with children with special needs, we always call it a secret club, it’s never discussed but you know when someone is in it. X ETA - my child dribbles a lot which is a big sign of needing sensory input via his mouth in the way of chewing etc.
