I saw that inverter on the web. Quite inexpensive, about 1/3 cost of similar inverters. But, only single-phase 230 VAC (50 or 60 Hz), so not ideal for N. America since split-phase is better for us, to allow 120 VAC outlets too. Could be used to power a few devices which use 240 VAC single-phase (no neutral) like a heat-pump, well-pump, or EV charger.

@williamgrissom9022 I've not powered a heat-pump, well-pump or EV charger with it as yet, but with the correct wiring it probably could. It's run most of my house fine, albeit with the used of extension leads. It's a shame it can't be paralleled, but I'm guessing that's why it's inexpensive. Cheers, Adrian

Thanks for sharing! What is the stand-by consuption from the battery with no-load on the inverter? Can you also check consuption from the grid in no-load condition, please? Some of the chinese inverters are really wasters of energy! Can the inverter also run only on battery with or without PV input?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 4 ай бұрын
@rilosvideos877 Glad to help where I can 👍. I'll need to check again (can’t find the figures from last time) and let you know, but from what I can remember the no-load results were similar (in Amps) to the ones I shared with you on the 24V version. In terms of running just on battery, yes, it can be run in isolation (I do this with the 24V version now), you'd just need a way to charge it (usually by connecting to the grid to charge). I'll let you know about the no-load (standby) amps on this 48V version. All the best, Adrian

Very interesting video, I'm thinking about buying one of these easun units prob same as yours. Was thinking just using a few small acid batteries I have and 10 solar pannels. Could I just use the power AC when theirs good sunny days directly as won't have much storage. Can you set the easun up to cut the AC Out when the solar is not enough or does it switch over to the AC in and just pass throu?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci Ай бұрын
@lookoutleo You can change the priority of what powers the AC output. I've just broke this inverter, my fault (video to come), but I've got their newer version awaiting customs clearance as I type this (bit.ly/4cQXJQe). I'm also testing this at the moment s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCZbHeX (affiliate link), video to follow in the coming weeks. This one can work without batteries if you have enough solar, still need to test that bit out. All the best, Adrian

@blainecelestaine4543 Thanks for your question. You can connect multiple batteries together to increase overall system capacity (as in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2XHlpmLebponq8). The EASUN 48V inverter can't be connected in parallel though. I hope this covers it. All the best, Adrian

3:08 smaller cable on Input than Output? You might be employing 'demo rules' I guess! Does this unit do pass-through (when there's no sun and no battery fall back to Mains), right up to its rated output power? I've got to upgrade to something like this. Adding AC Input to our 'off-grid' inverter (which does do pass-through at its rated 3kW, but will powercut above) was a transformation from state-of-charge-anxiety.
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 9 ай бұрын
@trs4u Hiya, I hope all is well with you? Spot on, I've only connected a mains cable (13A plug) for grid charging. It does do pass-through but I'm not pushing it past 3kW when charging and running small loads at the same time. I only run it full power with solar (what a joke at the moment) and battery. Finally got a smart meter installed last week and currently charging at 15.21p/kWh (for 1 hour, then later in the morning), which is 13.58p/kWh less than what I would have been charged until last week. Testing automaton for the 30min rate changes with solar assistant connected to home assistant. It's been great so far and learning loads (video to follow). I've also got a plan to go on-grid which is already underway (videos to follow too). I'm hoping for a few price plunges where I can get paid to charge (saw -2p/kWh & -4p/kWh around Christmas and the New Year).

@@DADvinci We'd be on the agile prices in a shot if we had the equipment for it, but our heaviest consumption (cooking, showers) is still in that evening peak. I keep expecting to see someone show their smart meter display running backwards - I wonder if it would? You almost need a separate dump circuit to 'maximise your gains' (~25kW on a 100A house fuse?) from -ve pricing with some wasteful heating. Awkward idea in an energy crisis... We need to move to a 48V+ system with some usable storage - that EASUN unit looks pretty good!
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 8 ай бұрын
@trs4u Load shifting is the key to 'playing' the energy market for sure, which is where a decent size battery helps a great deal. Cooking isn't too bad. I need to get an electric fan oven myself and they range from around 2.3kW (single oven) and upwards. For me, the induction hob is brilliant, rarely use the gas hob on my cooker now unless I need more than 2 rings for a meal. Showers on the other hand (assuming yours is an electric one?) at peak agile rates can work out quite expensive. Another 'dump' circuit would be very useful for an off-grid setup, otherwise just go for the largest on-grid hybrid inverter you can afford (which is what I'm planning to do). This opens up the trading element. Fill up during the cheap times and export during peak time or saving sessions. My gas usage hasn't changed much and still tracks to the colder weather as you’d expect. I'm just hoping that when I do push the button for a heat pump (or air conditioning), I've built my battery bank up as much as I can afford, then winter becomes a little more palatable.

Hi , i need some help please. If you have no electricity from grid , can you charge the battery and power the house in the same time from a gas powered generator? Thank you!!
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 8 ай бұрын
@user-sw3nq7gn1f Good day and thanks for your question. In theory, yes. As long as the generator provided the correct AC output voltage/frequency (as if you were connecting to the electricity grid), connecting it to the AC input on the inverter should provide this option. The amount of power the generator supplied (AC output watts) would also need to be taken into consideration as it would need to provide sufficient to power the house demand (including charging the battery). I must stress that I've not tried this myself as I've not got a generator and rely on solar/grid power with this setup. All the best, Adrian

@sun-sea-solar I'll need to check the final figures when doing the video, but between £1700-£1800 with the extra bits, as cells were somewhere around $20 less each for this order bringing the package 'all in' cost down overall. @jbjensen11 Good day and thanks for your question. I’ve taken a single 'snapshot' data point (on my Solar Assistant instance for the inverter) from the last week grid charging overnight. This is just a rough idea, as the variance will change a little depending on the charging conditions (rate, temp, grid volts, etc). With Max grid charge current set to 40A, data as follows PV Power 0W (at night of course) Load 23W Grid Power 2.18kW Battery Power 2.06kW Battery SoC 54% Battery Voltage 51.4V Battery Current 39A Battery Temp 18.6C Grid Voltage 241V AC I hope this helps. @@DADvinci Thanks a bunch for the data Adrian. If I read your data right, it shows us a very high effeciency of the charger at around 95% (2.06/2.18) But unfortunately doesnt tell us anything about the power factor. I am trying to determin if a limitation of 13A at 230VAC would affect the 80A charging capacity of the 24V model. If the unit is poorly designed the powerfactor could be as low as 0.7 - and that would limit the DC charging to around 70A rather than 80A. If you by chance have a watt meter you can put in front of the AC input, that will tell the AC amps. going in - and sometimes even straight out tell the power factor?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 8 ай бұрын
@jbjensen11 Sorry for the delay and not answering your question fully, not been able to test much over the last few days. I've done a quick check today (need to find more time), looking at my new smart plug (will explain further down) which has energy monitoring and I was charging at 40A, showing 2330W at the inverter grid input (in Solar Assistant) and 2595W at the smart plug. It wasn't an exact match up as there is a little bit of a delay between the plug updating and capturing the reading on SA. I'll need to use my energy monitoring plug when I get time. During a recent negative price period during one of the storms that hit the UK (the one after the storm mentioned in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/enmrmoadfqqXgKc), I increased the charging rate to 50A to make the most of being paid to fill the battery up. Whilst the fused plug didn't blow, it ended the smart plug's ability to switch. I completely forgot about smart plugs and sustained loads, doh! Suffice to say, I’m going to remain at 40A, as before, on the 48V system (shame there’s not a 45A option). I've got the 24V version of this EASUN inverter and at its max AC charging (60A) it pulls mid 1.8kW, as shown on my energy monitoring plug, with the power factor displayed as 0.92. I hope this helps and please let me know if you still need me to test on the 48V EASUN. Cheers, Adrian
@jbjensen11
@jbjensen11 8 ай бұрын
Thanks Adrian - I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into answering questions the best you can. The wattage you measure doesn’t tell anything about the power factor, but it gives very good indication of the efficiency of the charging circuitry, which may be more relevant to most people. We consumers don’t pay for a poor powerfactor, (the electricity company loose) - so it’s not from a economical concern it interests me. The powerfactor however, still affects the load in amps on the AC input side so it matters greatly if you are limited to X AC amps (by wire size, fuse or other) The 0.92 is quite acceptable - and a whole lot better than the 0.74 I get on a highend 30V/100A Wanptek Power Supply I have used for charging a big 24V battery bank. That charger is hooked up to 16A/230VAC circuit and in combination with the poor powerfactor, I can only utilize about 2723W(230VAC x 16A x 0.74) of the theoritical 3680W on the AC side(230VAC x 16A). So in effect, I can not charge with the full 100A DC (max capacity of the power supply/charger) but had to limit it to 85A at 29.2VDC. Hope this gives a picture of why the powerfactor interests me :) I have actually now ordered the 24V system with a 80A AC charging capability. I’m getting it next week sometime and will do some testing on that model myself also 😊 Thanks for helping me decide!! (Sorry for spelling etc. - I am Danish)
