Love the video, Wade! I've been absolutely loving my Phantom. Sporty, yet forgiving.

As I continue to build a quiver of boats I can yet use I’ve watched many of you reviews and appreciate them all. You make it look easy….and I know it isn’t. Many thanks

Excellent review! Maybe your best “on water” review yet. I almost didn’t watch bc I’m not really interested in the Phantom (partly bc I’m too light for it), but I’m glad I did. It was informative and entertaining, with some nice insight into the background of this boat and boat design in general. It’s funny, I always imagined the Phantom as more “high performance” bc of knowing the story about it being made by the pros in secret, etc. But it seems it may be more accessible than most of the other 9’ race boats on the market. Dagger seems to have a real thing for semi soft edges, and produces a lot of boats that are user friendly, predictable, and somewhat forgiving. Oh and tough, with super nice outfitting…and that leak quite a bit, haha. 💦

Thanks buddy yeah agree with all you aid Dagger fills that gap between The soft forgiving and sharp aggressive

Thanks for the great review. I would be running the West Fork Tuck this weekend were it not for 5 stitches under the chin on Ramsey Prong from last week.

What a. Run! Nobody can keep up with Pyranha, those guys come out with 3 new designs/boats every year.
@WadeHarrison3 жыл бұрын
You got that right that’s what happens when a company only focused on whitewater and not 4000 other design

@@WadeHarrison if only the outfitting were as good as the designs. I have muscular thighs (bicycle fiend) and those thigh braces cannot be adjusted high enough...not that l don't own a Pyranha boat (l do) but it has Dagger hip pads in it.

Love the videos Wade. Have enjoyed the earnest comments / feedback / perspective you bring to boat reviews and design. Question: Some team Dagger paddlers run their seat all the way forward, whereas you run yours towards the back. Can you go into how the Phantom handles with the seat forward, vs the back? Cheers -

was going to ask the same question. So torn on where to land on mine...

Well I Paddle a lot of HalfSlice boats and have become very comfortable with use the tail to load and drive boats I like getting back on that tail and driving the boat off of it I know some run it forward best thing to do is keep that too with you and maybe do a lap then move it back and do another like i did and it only changed it slightly but it was noticeable so I left it back

Thanks for the review! I'm currently paddling a Phantom and I'm curious about the Code. Did they add some rail or flatten it out like the Scorch? It looks to me like they took a Mamba and just added some bow rocker but I have not seen one in person.
@WadeHarrison3 жыл бұрын
Its flatter with way more rail I will have something out on those soon

Hi, I'm having a hard time deciding between the new code and this phantom. I have an old nomad 8.5 and it does a great job in the low volume creek here in quebec. However, I want to upgrade my nomad for something faster and a bit easier to turn but try to keep a rock friendly boat. I try the phantom once and I love it, It was like a faster nomad that can run over any obstacle. How is the Code vs the Phantom Speed? Easy to paddle, predictable and rock friendly type. thanks
@WadeHarrison2 жыл бұрын
Phantom smokes the code the code was made to skip out over stuff and kinda like slow things down i speed you want and turning go phantom check out my podcast with snowybthe designer we talk about the comparison kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaisYqdmn7mlabM

There’s a lot of phantoms floating around since the code came out. I paddle a large nomad (I’m 220), and was considering moving into a phantom. The nomad just doesn’t snap into Eddies the way I want it to but other than that I love it. You think I’m too heavy for the phantom or should I go for it? I want this rails cause I tend to run my local creek from mank to flood stage.
@WadeHarrison3 жыл бұрын
The lg code will be perfect fit the phantom will work but coming from a nomad I think the code is a better choice

Hi Wade, which one would you recommend for beginners? Code or Phantom?
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
Short answer between these Code but I like it when beginners get in something little more aggressive like the scorch
