I don't see why everybody is saying bad things about the narrator I think his voice is awesome so easy to listen to and the story is fairly reasonable simple nothing special just light entertainment

it needs a Welsh narrator to get the correct pronounciation & our accents are the closest to how deverry people would sound

I agree, either Welsh or somebody who at least grew up with that sort of dialect tradition. A bit annoying because she does take the trouble to explain how to speak the words. I am a Devonian by the way. Everytime he pronounces the W makes me cringe!

Yes, the nasally tone is more suited to 1950s crime radio.

@@tamsinlee6447 I remember painstakingly reading the pronunciation list as a teenager whenever a new name or word came up because it became very clear that the pronunciation was very important. By memory it hit me when there was confusion when Nevyn was introduced as "No one". It was clear that his name was meant to sound like a certain word, so off I went to the pronunciation page and corrected my own pronunciations in my head from that point on. I also remember getting to book #3 and suddenly realising that there was far more depth and meaning in each " reincarnation " of each character. I got a little OCD and wrote out a chart linking everything together. I still have the chart with my set of books.

I read this book ( novels ) ages ago sometimes at least 20 years ago - The 5-7 first novels are rememberble, rest is seat fillers and the 3 first are actually good writing -avoid the end novels -> I had a theory t h a t she used a ghostwriter , maybe it was due to old age and illness, dont know -boredom certainly since there are inconsecvenes -things that doesnt make sense - then she get into writing style for 11 years olds ( they fill in the story You dont as Authour or adult)
@Aymiikeeganmelb3 жыл бұрын
Same here. I came looking for this series because I just wanted to listen to something rather than news. if memory serves she had some legal troubles about her content, and it was always my guess on why it lost its guts in the writing.

I read this series countless times anyway the first novel's , after a while the swedish company took freedom with their translation or the translator was a kid or Katherinne Kerr didn't write her last novels in this series. ( A other way to see it she become a kid at old age meaning ... ) edit : I belive the quality suffered from maybe novel 8 - 9 - She got bored or she realised who read her novels or whatever .

The first "spell" books good, Time of not so sure .. the others ah well not very satisfying.. But outside this series she wrote Palace and Snare, good to read but did not go anywhere unfortunately. Also Polar City Blues and P.City Nightmare.

Some of these Fantasy writers start out with a good story, and then won't stop. Maybe because they have a contract or need the money, or both.

@@jari2018 Yes.... that's such an obvious explanation I never even considered it, but it makes sense.Especially when the style changes drastically . I also believe some just don't want it to end. Do you know Jordan , the guy who wrote the 'Wheel of time(s) ' series ?. I remember reading all those books, waiting for the final battle. Before he finished the whole story, he wrote a few prequels... and then he died of old age leaving the story unfinished. 10 books, and no ending. 🙄

What happened to that young girl and her silver dagger father? Is she brawnwin?
@jeffwells9431 Жыл бұрын
In her past life she was brangwen that drowned in the river. In the present life she is Jill and ran off with Rhodry. Galrion is Nevyn still alive after 200 years. Google list of Deverry cycle reincarnations
@louwinters508 Жыл бұрын
She's Brangwen. And the magic guy that never dies was cursed Because he was supposed to help her with her magical gift. But instead drove her to her death. In many incarcerations he tries but he cannot. In one lifetime he takes her son on instead and teaches him. But it has to be her. And Jill's dad Cullyn is Brangwen's brother who had an incestuous affair with her and got her pregnant. And in his current life he starts lusting after Jill. It's pretty creepy when you think about it.
