After the previous video, one of my fren invited me to review his Dahon K3 Plus which is quite popular recently. So here's my first impression review and I hope you enjoy this video.

Impressive review I like it. I personally do own a dahon 20" foldie and am looking forward to getting a K3 plus but like what you said I do have problem sourcing for one .

Did they change the disc-break fork mounting on the newer 2022 models? Just want to check as I ordered a carbon fork but it didn't show any mounting hardware and the bracket is welded on my k3 plus.

Small wheels tend to get heated up fast, they used disc brake inside of V brake. The derailleur is too low, need to watch up for road obstacles.

For the money overhere. Its very good value. For less than £1000 (for half the price of a P line) You have a bike with better gearing than the Brompton P line. And lighter too.

Bro, i just can't decide between K3+ and Fnhon Gust. Which one are better in terms of spare parts and maintanance? The main concern is about the 305 tire, seems like hard to find than 349. Thanks bro.

The option for 305 tires are much lesser compare to 349. I will say the gust and k3+ ride very different. The k3+ are much more stiffer. If you just want a relax ride gust will fit you better. There’s someone who convert k3+ to 349 by swapping to carbon fork too.

I like this bike very much BUT my only concern is the wheel size 16 inch..... 20 inch will be better,or? any PRO advise?

It depends on your main purpose. For me 20" is the sweet spot in terms of ride quality, but if your priority is compact and portability, then the slight compromise from 16" will be more suitable. how is the riding dynamics and handling of the bike? Do you think it's suitable for commuting to work?

Oh yesss definitely suitable for commute to work. The bike fold down in a very small package so it’s very good when you need to store under table or board on train. Handling and riding dynamic is 3.5/5. Nothing surprise but nothing to complaint as well

If comfortable and speed is what your are looking for, K1 will be a better choice as it come with bigger wheel size. K3 is suitable if you want t space saving folding bike.

Hi, yes I think there is a version of 14” which is call K3. It come with 3 speeds derailleur.

Both are good bike! In term of riding quality, gust is better as it’s chromoly. But in term of stiffness, K3plus is better as it’s alloy. Gust suitable for someone love to get hand dirty with mod and optimisation. K3plus suitable for those who want to buy and ride and not to worry much

I had never rode a Vito before so im not sure how it iy compare to K3plus. But based on the spec sheet and also wheel size, K3plus should be slightly better but shouldn't have a significant improvment over your vito.

I got my Dahon K3 plus today. Rides well, but they come with Cheng Shin Tyres ! I thought it should be Kenda. Did I buy a fake Dahon ????

Heyyy don worry I think you got a genuine one. Tires are the part that might change from batch to batch so it’s normal that your tires are not from Kenda but CST instead.

@@HengChooChian Thanks for your reply and advice Choo Chian. I think so too that it's legit because it's very sturdy and so far the bikes rides and folds very well. Ultra light and soldering looks totally good. Can support an overweight 120kg fatty. Much appreciated.

Big brand like dahon do have the capital to request for OEM and stamp their brand so they can have better margin and spend more on RnD. Not really a bad thing as long as the QC are execute well.

🤔 I don have a side by side comparison but it definitely almost Brompton folded size. But in tern of neatness Brompton still having advantages as the chain is not expose out

I think it have to down to what’s your knowledge about bicycle. If you are new and don have much knowledge about maintenance, K3plus should be better for u. But if you are a veteran and know how to do it all, gust is very fun to build

Great review. To be honest i stopped buying dahon products after finding Tern. I never felt as confident riding them due to their flexy handle posts. But this bigger does look really nice. I love the paint job also. Dahon does know how to make their bikes look good. How did it ride though? Did it feel solid. Also just an observation, it looks like for a 16 inch folder that they should've yard a telescoping seatpost. It just seems that it would've been even more compact. Based on dahon history if I'm looking for a compact donde I'd go for the tern by since it must likely has a better ride, but twice the price. But worth it in my eyes.

Totally agree with your point. I guess the market strategy are very different. Dahon seems to targeted new comers while tern target to upgrader/ enthusiast. Some higher end dahon model are built equally great compare to tern tho.

Hi! thanks for leaving your comment. I have no data in compare with P10 or X1 but most probably it wont be as fast as Tern due to the wheel size. The advantages of K3plus will never the speed but the compact folded size.

To be frank I think k3 plus is one of the lightest bike available in the market. At 16” wheel the weight should be too light as the handling will be really floaty and twitchy

I cant say which one is better as both of them are decent bike. It's more like if you are a DIY person, then go for gust. If you want a hassle free buy and ride bike, K3plus is for you.

It should be ok. If it’s too cramp you can change the handlepost to curve type to have more space in between handlebar and saddle

Sorry I’m not sure what’s the maximum clearance for the tires. But 50mm might be too wide based on my memory. Might need to really try to know.

Looking at the folded size should be a problem but you might need to remove front and rear wheel to be able to do that

We need to see the riding footage experience. Also how people height suitablility.

Unfortunately I don own the bike so can’t comment much about long term riding experience. A quick ride show that this bike is quite stiff and responsive and the height suitability should be good for someone up to 175/185. Plenty of clearance at seat post.

Derailleur crap. Hollowtech also crap, crank more crap and last and not least, please change the crappy disc brakes if you value your life. And not to mention, the hubs and spokes are crap. Kindly change to aftermarket, start with the brakes, hub to something like Hope and Shimano shifters and crank. 😆😆😆😆😆
