Extracting a little more power and response from you Daihatsu DL Turbo engine is relatively simple and can be done in a matter of minutes. However increasing the fueling of your injector pump will raise exhaust gas temperatures, increase boost and create more soot from your exhaust. There is the potential for serious engine damage to occur. If you don't understand how these tweaks are affecting your fueling or are not confident making these adjustments yourself, you should seek the help of a professional diesel tuner.
Before attempting these tweaks you should have an EGT/pyro gauge fitted at the minimum. A boost gauge and intercooler are also highly recommended.
You should have a way of shutting down your engine via blocking the air intake should the engine go into "runaway" while adjusting the max fuel screw.
Every pump/engine is different so the degree to which you adjust the starwheel and max fuel screw to find the sweet spot may vary from the demonstration here.

Could you do a video about your inter cooler set up And where did you drill your manifold for your E G T sensor ?

Sure, I'll see what I can do. My EGT probe is drilled in the turbo manifold above where the turbo is. I figured this would be the best place to get an average reading of all the cylinders. You can also put them in the dump pipe after the turbo though the readings will be cooler there so your max temperatures will be lower. Personal preference really. Ideally you should remove the manifold before drilling it so swarf doesn't fall into the turbocharger though I cheated by covering the drill bit in grease to collect much of the swarf then used a magnetic pickup tool to clean out the rest of the swarf from inside the manifold.

I notice that you have an aftermarket steering wheel. Did you need a special boss kit and if so where did you find one?

Yes you need a boss kit. Autotecnica manufacture them. Think I bought mine on ebay but there are a lot of dealers for them.

I got smoke on diesel kipor 19sta3 generator may i turn 1 circle and keep diaphram on 90 percent it will decrease smoke on load

Thanks a million for explaining this mate! My rocky has been tweaked by the previous owner, it's smoking quite a bit on start-up and starts a bit rough, specially when it's cold out and as long as the engine is below working temperature it smells like badly burnt fuel, like a very old tractor. I also notice on some occasions that the revs are sticking when shifting (seems to be only with engine warm). What would you recommend me adjusting trying to go back towards factory settings without markings? Start with the fuel screw and see if that's enough or also turn diaphragm so thick part faces the engine in case it's facing forwards? Is there a way to know if the starwheel has been turned?

I would try only adjust the fuel screw for now. If that doesn't help you can reverse the steps in this video and see if there is any improvement. Regarding you start issue fit new glow plugs and have the injectors reconditioned.

All I did was adjust my max fuel screw.do I have. To adjust d other part that u showed in d vid n how do I adjust to get less black smoke n that part u jus showed on top controlling the boost

Rotating the diaphragm will increase power and torque as boost ramps up. Basically it will feel more responsive. The screw on top fastens to a thick eccentric little block under the cap. It has a high and a low side. Adjusting it so the high side touches the top of the diaphragm will result in a little increase of response off boost but it will cause more smoke. Adjusting it to its lowest point will reduce off boost response and smoke. Bear in mind that all the tuning in my video will cause more smoke. If you are blowing too much I would back off the Max fuel screw and adjust the other settings until you are happy with it.

I own a Toyota starlet diesel with a 1n turbo engine but there’s a lot of black smoke when I’m driving around. I wanted to know if you can help me tune it at home to get more fuel economy. Power isn’t a major requirement. Also want to cut down on the black smoke as it must be irritating the people driving behind me.

decrease the max fuel screw by half a turn and if smoke remains you can always add some boost

Nice video,why did you turn that big adjustment screw of one turn in the beginning?what did you adjust?do i also need to do it on my nissan td27t?

It basically adjusts the tension of the spring under the diaphragm fuel pin. Turning it clockwise reduces the tension allowing the fuel pin to travel down quicker thus adding fuel quicker. It's not a necessary adjustment but a little bit of a gain to be had.

I don't really know. I have heard of people running over 25psi but I think would need better head studs at a minimum if you really wanted to push it. 18psi seemed to be the limit of the oem dl51 turbo.

So if i understand correctly if you don't adjust the smoke screw there will be no additional smoke when not on boost? Ideally i'd like to use a boost controller in addition to tampering with the fueling to get power without extra smoke

No, however if you adjust the max fuel screw at the back of the pump there will be more smoke off boost as it adjusts fueling across the entire range. Also the fuel pin may allow more fuel off boost if adjusted as outlined in this video although I have never checked the difference between factory and the adjusted setting at 0psi so its possible its the same. Adjusting the smoke screw on top of the pump will create a noticeable amount of smoke though, more so than making the adjustments I have in this video. Boost controller is an excellent idea. I use a Turbotech manual controller set at 15psi. I've found them to be the best budget controller on the market.
