Great video! Takes me way back to 1986, when I was learning to drive off road in a 1943 GPW. I decided to drive down a very steep slope and forgot to take my foot off the clutch right away and descended very fast...at one point actually jumping off a step created by a log that was flush with the ground on the uphill side. I was lucky to get things under control before hitting any trees, which were all around.

picked up 2 scats very recently, a F20 like the yellow one that still has the body and a ute f25 thats green, and hoping to get them on the road by christmas

That engine sound is music to the ears. I still have a daihatsu feroza good thing with it is that it shares toyota spare parts so it's cheaper to maintain. Though engine was already swaped with kia rt turbo 2.8 give it more power. It's not as comfortable as the jimny or other newer cars but if you were later or 80's to 90's generation your body is designed to withstand the beating that you will get when you offroad this very short wheelbase on a leaf spring. But if you rig this thing up like increasing the load the comfortability improves so it is recommended to have a steel front and rear bumper and rock sliders that will add weight therefore improves comfort. Some also put external rollcage if that's what they call it. 😁

A non computer controlled diesel engine that likely only requires one wire has to be one of the easiest "barn find" engines to get running. Cute little rigs, obvious copy of a CJ-2 or 3. I wonder if they're licensed by Jeep like the Mahindra? I remember my first drive in a CJ-3, it was as much fun as you had now.

@@Malc664 Thanks, yes good point. Algae too but much more complicated. I like the idea of solar panels (on a stupidly long vehicle to generate the 20kW needed to run the thing - around 50 sqm of roof PV, so around 25m long). If and when they create PV's that give us 40% efficiency we can reduce it to a 12.5m long vehicle... Please let technology progress sufficiently to deliver such PV before we have the zombie apocalypse! :)
