Hi Bert, Mustie1 made a nice job of Raising the suspension on something almost the same. They never lasted long over here in England, head gasket and rusted away

My buddy has a Colorado, exact same truck and he just destroys vehicles. He beat the crap out of it for many years . He’s had a few mishaps and put it in the weeds , fender bender . It’s still running , so if he hasn’t destroyed it yet they can’t be that bad . 👍🇨🇦

Where I worked before I got hurt had one of those mini trucks in grounds department. It is a health care facility. Grounds uses it with a plow and salt spreader to clean sidewalks in winter. As flower bed vehicle. It has a lift bed and right hand steering. I think ours was a Mitsubishi.

That was the coldest of cold starts. These Daihatsu Hijets are tough little trucks. This version has the left hand steering wheel. I've read that the US Coast Guard bought some of those. I bought a right hand drive 1996 4WD Hijet with HI/LO transfer case in pretty darn good shape (at least from the pictures) for $370... and $2010 to ship it from Yokohama to the east coast of the US. I paid for it almost a month ago and it hasn't shipped, and the boat trip will take another month. The wait is killing me. I plan on plating it because 25+ year old imports can be registered in my state, and Hagerty will insure it when GEICO wouldn't. 12:10 - "My grandkids can't drive it because it's not an automatic." I'm loathe to criticize how anyone raises their kids, but this still sounds like sadly neglectful grand parenting. :-P

No paper work, very high price for the condition, parts may or may not be readily available, lots of work to get it running properly but that said, Bert, I could see the Diahatsu being a very valuable piece of equipment around the farm.

The Daihatsu dumping bed is cool. And it's a runner with decent tires. Besides a tune-up and brakes, you would not have to fix everything using it only on the farm property. But $1,500 is a little steep. At 7:05 I think he said the guy sold it for "a grand" to Fred. If you're really interested in it, offer Fred $ 1,100.
