Last year me and a friend made an appointment to tour Daihatsu's automotive museum located at their factory just north of Osaka. While not an overly large collection, they do display several iconic models from over a century of engine, and automotive production. Vehicles on display include an early three wheel truck, a Fellow, a Midget, a Charade, a Mira, a Copen, among others.

Unbelievable that they don't have the Daihatsu 4x4 Taft, Rocky's and Ferozas...those are some of the best, simple and most Reliable 4x4's ever built!! 28 years with Daihatsu Congratulations to their superb and simple build quality 👌👌👌

Yore right, the Compagno was the first japanese car to be sold in the UK in 1964, Daihatsu left the market here in 2010. Lots of cars they should have in the musuem - the 4Trak, Feroza, Leeza, NAKED, Charmant, Applause etc.

The P3 or P5. They raced them during the mid sixties at various races across Japan. Really sweet little race cars. Also would have been great to have one of the Charades that won their class at the 1990 African Safari Rally (also came in fourth) after all.

I love the way they dressed up that museum in true gekiga style. Reminds me of Yoshihiro Tatsumi's Abandon The Old Tokyo bundle. Nice to see how you made good use of that. Awesome video! :D I also happen to have a similar OK sticker on the Carina. So that must have been a quality check thing in the 80s. What I'm missing? More Wasabi Cars videos! ;)

Hi, Art. That's the first I've heard of gekiga. Did some googling. Interesting.
@banpeinet
@banpeinet 7 жыл бұрын
Gekiga is slightly different than normal manga. Outside Japan it is considered to be the same, but the real difference is the more serious tone of the gekiga. Probably you could best compare it to the difference between a comic and a graphic novel.

RED. i'm sending you the picture right away. and finally that silver move, my uncle had one just to storage stuff, one day he told me to drive it. very funny car, it was manual. that's where i took the SS badge and put it on the hobio, it did fit. the only thing left i got from that move are the keys. hahaha!! question of the day: apart from those seat covers, i need a set of new yokohamas for the celica :S

wow, Daihatsu Ayla. It's actually produced in my home country Indonesia and it's basically a simplified 1000cc version (non-turbo) version of the Daihatsu Mira e:S It was introduced at the beginning of the LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) era, that my country introduced so that we have "green cars" and "cleaner air" but in reality these cars just made the roads here, more congested than ever before -,- and more pollution than ever. but still, it's a quirky little car tho. just don't expect high quality materials and finishing lol. But that doesn't mean we're bad at producing cars, it's just that these cars are priced more than what they should've been priced.

Daihatsu build diesel engines for Toyota. They had been used on the Dyna Truck, and they used the same cabin, but different facia for they Daihatsu Delta Truck. Also they make the Daihatsu Rocky and Feroza since the 1970's. And 4x4 jeep style SUV that had gasoline and removable soft roof on the Rocky and hard and diesel engines on the Feroza. Then we get the Terios, now BeGo.
