cool video a couple of questions.... you said the top bearing wore out on the compressor. you checked first amp draw and the pcb was putting out power to the compressor ? then could hear a mechanical bearing sound? could metal fillings from said bearing damage the piston in the compressor and potentially metal fillings pumped round the system and block capilary tubes or TEV? that would not be cool :/

Matthew Caley the amp draw is what will lock it out, and usually what happens is either poor oil return due to bad installation (no nitrogen purge resulting in a clogged oil filter) or liquid coming back due to an EEV not closing properly on an indoor evaporator, causing the bearing lubricant to get washed away. And I don’t think the design of a swing compressor would allow contaminants to get into the system. But usually the system will fault out before that much wear happens.

My fish world Kris Kanev I have since set all my indoor units to run on “low-low” when satisfied in cooling, so if I have an expansion valve partially open it’ll boil off the liquid and not wash out my bearings. Working so far.
